S55 AMG HeadUnit Upgrade
Hello, my name is Ryan and I recently got my license and got an s55 AMG 2005 for my first car. I love the car, its power, its comfort, everything, but the command is hard to deal with. For my dad, who primarily used CD's it was not an issue, however, I want to listen to music via my phone, and this year s55 does not have an aux cord or Bluetooth (obviously) so I was looking into swapping the head unit for an android clone. Are there any good models that are up to date and don't cost an "arm and a leg"? Also, before anyone recommends this, I tried getting a Bluetooth FM transmitter, and while it does work, it does not sound very good and has high amounts of static during use. Thanks for the help and any advice is appreciated!

You don't want those. They are trash. Look at a Dension unit for your stock player first, if you must have BT streaming music. IIRC, you can couple it with a storage drive full of MP3s. I did one of those clone units in my E46M -- complete trash, but better than the broken unit there. COMAND is WAY more than a radio, so you don't want something trashy covering that much ground in your S55. They will never work "like stock". You'll be sorry.

See here... https://www.dension.com/automotive/p...ns/gateway-500
You may need to call them. I don’t understand how the Gateway 500 is compatible but their BT solutions aren’t. Could just be a wack web site compatibility function. From what I understand, their module is the Bluetooth connection, that lets you control iDevices and USB music sources as well. But I haven’t tried it. I just burn MP3 music to DVDs and let that be that. At like 600 songs per, I’m not in the car long enough to need any more. But I’m not a teenager either. My kids are, and they ask about BT, which is why I’ve even thought of it. They take over the BT systems in the other cars, much to my enjoyment. If BT phone is important to you, I’d go factory, then use Dension for music only. So you now have 2 music solutions (Dension and DVD MP3), and factory everything else, which I think is the best of all worlds.

How would I check if I have the TV Tuner and how would I get my phone to connect via aux or bluetooth to it? Sorry for the the late reply. (Very Late lmao)

Hi Ryan,
When I first got this w220, I had the same irk to have an aux cable installed for my kids YouTube or a meditation stream off my phone. I had the NAV-TV MOST model installed replacing the multi CD changer, which I don’t regret. One thing after two years of ownership is that the aux cables can get loose and you will lose signal to the right speaker.
if you are like me I would first double check your ABC system to see if it is “happy” and then go about calling NavTV before making your purchase. I forget the guys name but he was super helpful. The aux only is $299 I believe.
Feed a female aux through the bottom of the head unit
best, daniel
