S55 amg kompressor

Hi everyone i have an s55amg kompressor and it is hunting and it seems like an air problem.
the car drives very well and even it start great but when i went to give it a computer test the car gave an error that is P1999 angle variation of cumshaft, but my mechanic cant believe it because the timing belt doesn’t make any noise and the car drives and starts well.
anyone can help me with this problem please?
thanks Jonathan

Trust the computer, not your mechanic’s ears. Seriously. These things can run very well to the average bear while towing faults along. It’s an engineering thing. If the computer tells you that’s the problem, start there. Maybe vacuum leaks, MAF or throttle body (in that order), but that’s a guess from a long way away. Have any of those components been altered? K&N filters? We need to know more about the car. The above suggestions assume a bone stock car.

The car has everything standard nothing has been changed.
yesterday I heard a leak of air coming from the right front wheel now i am thinking alot that maybe i have an airleak from the pump or something else, amd I noticed as well that when you keep pressing the brake pedal the idle of the car comes to normal and it stops hunting

There is a fairly common vacuum leak under the intake near the back, usually driver’s side, typically encountered when people do valve cover gaskets, plugs, what have you. There’s an intake tube (sorry, I’m not a mechanic) that just slides over the nipple and isn’t clamped on. Don’t ask me why. When I last did plugs and valve cover gaskets on my car, after we put it back together (I should say “they” put it back together) we had a lean condition and misfire only under load, pure as silk during idle, no CEL. Turned out that tube was the problem. My friend (and genius mechanic who takes care of this car) was the only guy who knew ... “check the intake tube under the manifold at the back”... sure enough, it was off the nipple.

I will tell my mechanic about it, the strange think is that this happened all of a sudden nothing has been touched from the engine. I phoned the mercedes benz garage yesterday to make an appointment for star diagnostics and i am waiting for them to make an appointment and i hope that it doesn’t take to long.

Yeah, but stay focused on vacuum leaks, MAF, before they sell you a throttle body.

Yeah... I guess... but I’ve never even heard of a timing chain problem on one of these, not in the 17 years they’ve been out... or the 11 years I’ve owned mine... granted, I’ve only personally known maybe 6 other owners of 55Kompressors (S, CL and SL)... but still... I’ve never heard anyone even mention the timing chain... that’s the whole reason for chains over belts... sure, on my almost 30year old 500E (M119 V8) someone will mention chain stretch here and there... but on these, never... until now.

yes thats the problem the chain is stretch thanks to the mechanic cause when he made the service is started it with a few oil and then he switched it off imidately but the damage had already been done it was to late. Now the computer star diagnostics is showing Angle Variation Of Camshaft Relative To Crankshaft(P1999)
