Need Help Bad. Coolant Blow Off Valve???

I recently replaced the crankshaft pulley and seal on my 05 S55 AMG. I had to take off the upper right (when facing the car from the front) radiator hose to get the fans out. No other coolant lines were disconnected and yes it did lose about a gallon of coolant when disconnecting. I replaced crankshaft pulley and seal, put fans back in and connected the coolant line.. when the car gets just about up to temp it very loudly sprays what seems to be a high pressure coolant/mist from the driver side of the engine towards the front. I thought for sure it was the one line we took off so we double checked it a ton and after watching it get back up to the blow off stage it’s defiantly not coming from that hose. Not sure what else would be doing this. It only does it when the car is just about up to full temp and stops the blow off spray within seconds of shutting the car off... any ideas? We added proper amount of coolant and tested both with the reservoir cap on and off and makes no difference

I forgot to mention it also does still have the coolant visit workshop message on the dash which has been on since the crankshaft repair. I figured that was on due to coolant being low during repair or an air pocket in the system..

Are you certain you didn't accidentally crack the plastic mid-section in the hose, where the coolant crossover hose connects? Did you pull the small hose off and loose the metal retaining clip?

Here is a quick I video I uploaded if it doing it. It’s not a cracked line or fitting that I can tell. It sounds like a bow off or pressure relieve valve.. i also noticed the electric fans do NOT come on as they should.

This is the only coolant line that was disconnected during repair

This is the area that is spraying the high pressure mist. It’s mainly air with a coolant mist. It keeps blowing on and off like that unless you turn the car off

I'm looking at my s55 right now to see what it could be. I flushed my whole cooling system myself and didn't run into an issue like that. I don't mean to offend, but does it smell like coolant or refrigerant? The low side AC line runs right there. Just a thought.

AC compressor

Is that the air conditioning compressor?

Sorry my car is not handy to peek at it to compare, but that looks like an AC line is spraying.

Bingo! I think you both are correct. I just turned the heat and A/C off and I could not get it to do it again. Now the hard part of trying to figure out what line is damaged or causing the issue. I do still have the 2nd issue of the coolant fans not turning on and the warning on dash saying coolant visit workshop. Any good video or easy first steps to diagnose getting fan going again?

Blachermeier as I'm sure you know, the fan only kick on when its at a certain temp and/or your AC is on. If your low on refrigerant the system kicks the compressor offline and the fan will not turn on.
Burp your cooling system, I did this with heat on high and revved the engine to 2k or so for a few minutes and added coolant when needed. Idle the car for awhile and keep an eye on the temp and see if your fan kicks on.
Your low pressure AC line is near where you filmed, has that aluminum looking sleeve over it going to your compressor. Hope this helps in some way.

Forgot to mention that the low pressure side AC line runs really close to the exhaust manifold on that side. Thats probably the reason for the aluminum wrap. Make sure its not touching the exhaust.
Also the drier is just below the power steering reservoir. Check around that area too. Its hard to tell even after watching the video numerous times. There's so many hoses and lines on these cars its crazy.

Did you find the issue? Interested to know what it was and if you fixed it. Please don't leave us hanging.

I have an appointment to drop it off 5/10 at a local Mercedes aftermarket shop to diagnose. I have been driving it daily with the AC off and absolutely no issues and runs great other than the fans not working and having to watch the temp gauge so it doesn’t run hot. When I spoke to the shop today they said the fans not turning on and the AC are probably linked like others stated and that the AC could be over pressurizing if the fans aren’t working.? Not sure and didn’t make sense to me but I may have heard them wrong. I really need to get the fans working as well and not real good with electrical diagnosing so figured it’s best to have them pin point. I may also have them look at the ABC system while it’s there. I did the fluid and filter flushed but it’s always dinged that annoying error on dash for just a second when going over large bumps. It’s done it since I’ve owned it and not a big issue but maybe they can tell me if it’s the accumulators, valve block seals, or pump... I was going to go through those slowly this summer regardless. I’ll keep you posted.

Taking it to a shop isn't always a bad idea. As for your ABC displaying a message when hitting bumps, it's probably your accumulators. Not 100% certain though.

Waiting for the answer

I’m guessing you are low on refrigerant because there is a hole or crack in your AC line. And that the pressure was normal but just high enough to squirt out the crack.

placing bets...

Alright so I just got the diagnosis from the shop and they confirmed the cooling fan module is bad.. they said they couldn’t look into the refrigerant issue as it over heated to quickly which shuts off the AC.? I’ll be picking it up tomorrow to replace the fan/module myself. Should I purchase the whole assembly or try to replace just the module knowing the fan is original? Any good source recommended? Also it had an odd start then die situation today on the way to the shop and had some issues getting it out of park.”typically I just take the key out and put it back in and that fixes it” however they diagnosed that today as a shift control module going bad which was $1,100 in parts and can ONLY be ordered from a dealer and programmed because they are VIN specific and a theft related item..? If anyone has advice or a cheaper way to fix that it would be much appreciated.
