Angry Anyone want to buy a 2005, 57500 mile s55?

Damn thing is leaking oil AGAIN! Its always the passenger side. Had the valve covers off both sides and replaced the gaskets. I've had to remove the passenger side valve cover 6 times. Then, stupid me I didn't reseal the breather and that leaked yesterday.

So off it came again to fix. Took it for a ride today to see if all is well. ITS NOT! Now i have oil in the valley between the head and where the injectors are. I looked really good and it did not appear to be coming from the breather or the valve cover.

Im so tired of this I am contemplating selling it. I can't enjoy the car when i have to constantly fix a oil leak from the same damn side!

I don't really want to sell it but my enjoyment of the car is of no more because its the same problem over and over and over. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

@captainr, did you see this in the repair records when you bought the car? If not, why not just have a dealer fix it? I recall there are two gaskets that need to be done. I want to say the second overlooked one is under the supercharger? Please correct me if I'm wrong. My guy just asked me about that not too long ago on mine. I couldn't remember if it had been done, so we just sprayed off the oil and will see if it returns. Nothing on the ground though and not a lot of smell, so I can't tell if that faint smell is just the rear main seal (which won't get done unless the transmission needs to come out, hopefully never), or this other gasket (which is really just sealing compound from a tube IIRC). But the whole job is under $500.

Hello Maw, the dealer has the service records so I am unsure. I can call them and ask for the records. I did these gaskets for the valve covers as they were leaking slightly when I bought the car.

The drivers side has been fine since I did it. The passenger side has been the issue every single time. I am unsure of a gasket under the supercharger. My last attempt will be to order a whole upper gasket set from FCP Euro and replace them all.

At this time I'm just fed up with it and contempcontemplated selling it as the wife and I want to buy a boat and she has said I cannot have two toys that take up so much time. So, a fishing boat sounds more appealing and more useful for the family anyway.

Did you ever get this source of the issue fixed?

I did fix it. I was going to take it to the dealer, but I was determined not to let it beat me. I ordered an intake and valve cover gasket set from FCP that comes with the PCV hose that connects to the valve covers and throttle body.

I replaced it all and found it easier to maneuver the valve cover with the intakes off. So from now on when its due for valve cover gaskets, I will do the intake plenum gaskets at the same time.

@CaptainR I'm glad you could get this handled. As an aside, for everyone else's benefit, it is often after this and re-assembling everything that the notorious intake hose at the rear of the supercharger comes loose -- rough running, maybe a CEL. So if you have either of those after performing this service, that hose is public enemy #1.

Cheers,

maw

I appreciate the info Maw and have not ran into that issue thus far. I was reading here on the forum awhile back and did see the mention of that hose. When I replaced the valve cover gaskets the 1st time I was surprised, as I did not pull that out of the coupler.

Respectfully,

Chris
