I wonder how much more it would have sold for with the rear seat package. Seems like a rare option.

This seems high

I figured the price would be lower, even with the low miles.

Maybe these S55 values are starting to turn back up again due the classic factor?

Yeah, @GrepAwk they are starting to turn back up (at least in this inflated used car market). I’d say they bottomed over the pandemic — 15yr mark. That’s primarily why I started this thread. But it’s a turbulent turn, where the market is groping for the correct price, some sales don’t hold, repeat sales of the same cars, etc. So we’ll see how permanent is this trend.

Case in point… https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...-s55-amg-21-2/ … sold in October with a hacked up exhaust and no rear seat options for arguably too much money, back again now.

PS… once you see these types of articles you know what comes next… add to that the lust for anything old school AMG

Good deal

That’s a good price. About where I figure mine was worth 3-4 years ago. I’m also around 85k miles. But I don’t have keyless go, which I don’t regret.

I think I paid about $9,000 for mine in the summer of 2019 with about 100k miles. It is FULLY loaded...a Designo Graphite Edition with extended leather (dash/door), Alcantara headliner, poplar wood trim/shift knob, key-less go, distronic and the full rear-seat package.

Yeah, @8899 as we discussed then, you bought at what I think was the bottom of this market. While I think these "might", "maybe" drop back to those levels, I don't really think that's likely, just because they didn't make many of these, certainly not designo with rear seat options. And of course the drivetrain is proving to be near vault-like. The "twin" of your car that I know of was totaled for insurance, and the way you keep your cars, it is just money in the bank that you get to drive for free. Even this one at $17k is likely good money as far as cars go. So 🍻 to you and well done!

Of course, the problem will be parts, but that’s a discussion for another day. Luckily they made plenty of W220 so the interior bits shouldn’t be AMG specific.

Buy the odometer, get the car for free. Still, makes you wonder what you’d pay for a new one today. I bought mine with these miles 13 years ago and would do it again, given the right spec.

Thats a beautiful car and I hope it can fetch upwards of $12-15K. Same with the accident car above with only 6x,xxx Miles. Still blows my mind these cars are trading for so cheap. I understand the maintenance can be a hit on the wallet, but the amount of power and luxury you are getting in return seems like such a bargain.

I do suppose that as time goes on these will continue to appreciate. I honestly think we have hit rock bottom as far as prices are concerned and they should continue to gradually increase.

Agreed. Clearly I'm not a seller at these prices and we're on the other side of the bottom.

These cars are really robust once you "see the matrix." No, hydraulic and transmission fluid don't last forever. Anything else?

Of course not, it's an SClass. Keep it in the garage on a charger over the winter and down the road you go. Clean fluids + happy battery = minimum requirements. Moving on.

Just FYI for everyone....Mine was bought at auction (Manheim) by previous owner for $11Kin 2022 because it had the SRS light on....plus ABC pump was bad. He addressed the ABC pump. I bought it for $6K after some haggling in October 2023. Had 138K miles .... I am trouble free, but like MAW says - keep up with the maintenance.
