Cant wait to point and laugh at your boss when his ABC fails and Mercedes refuse's to fix it under warranty when they see the trailor hitch. Totally stupid idea not even worth the hassle of causing damage to the car or paying money to get a custom hitch.
Tell him to get a G500 or a nice luxury SUV IE Navigator,Escalade,Range Rover or something of that nature not a S55. What is he thinking. ?

As a matter of fact, my wife's C240 was a "loyal employee" gift from him earlier three years ago... and my W211 was a bonus that I got for a project we did for his other line of business.

I know my CDI could jerk the hell out of a trailer....
Its one more cyliner of motor than the strongest Sprinter van....
But I still wouldn't want to risk a jackknife, etc. A car is just too light in the rear to tell a trailer where to go when things get hectic.
Get a damn 1995 Suburban for 1/4 the cost of fixing the AMG after the first jackknife incident.

S320 CDI and SL320
This is our tow hitch, fully original (option code 550, not available on the AMG's or with AMG-package). It's pneumatic.

hi guys,
what a strange thread.
if the guy owns 3 MB dealerships what the hell is he
doing having his assistant asking questions on a forum?
plus....why not just use common sense and add a G55
to his stable to pull his motorcycles?
also...aries palmiotto...you seem intent on putting a hitch
on the S55 regardless of what the members of these forums
recommend. so i guess you should just do it and let us
know the outcome.

i have a little 215 horse 3 liter lexus is 300 sport cross wagon i tow 2 motorcycles each around 600 lbs wet on a hitch rated for 2000 lbs. that mercedes probably weighs more than a lot of trucks and more horsepower than most trucks and i believe any qualified engineer could beef of the unibody and attach a hitch that would drive as good or better than my little lexus which does just fine. in the old days when cars had frames the olds, buicks, pontiacs, cadilacks, were towing good sized travel trailers more than trucks. i made one long trip towing a bike, and a few trips to the dealer with a broke bike. i think it would look impressive to see a limousine towing a motorcycle.

His very first post, and he dredges up a 15-year-old thread with a completely irrelevant and almost illiterate reply.
His momma so proud!

Love this old thread.
I occasionally think about buying roof cargo bars. They were an option. Peek under the rubber strip along where the doors close and you will find pairs of pan head bolts where they would fasten.
