Hi everyone,

As some of you have seen already, about 5 months ago I bought a prefacelift S65AMG V12 Bi Turbo. I wanted to do a facelift conversion to the car but I decided to leave it as it is as they are rare cars. I also like the facelift models and if I'm honest, I prefer the look of the facelift car a bit more. I found one for sale recently and I bought it.

It’s a Designo model, exterior and interior.

It’s an S63AMG V8 Bi Turbo. Being a late model, this car got the newer engine instead of the old 6.2 V8 naturally aspirated. I wanted the newer engine but to find one that is also a Designo, made it even more appealing to me.

The car is also a Performance Pack which means, it has more power than a normal S63AMG V8 BiTurbo and a higher top speed [ still restricted ]. The Performance Pack has 571 bhp and 900NM and it's restricted to 188mph. Not that the normal s63 is a slow car but who says no to more power right!

The interior is my fav part on this car ( looks wise ). I just love light coloured interiors and it's such a crazy high spec car. It has all the options you could get on this model s classes and some very cool features.
The roof lining is full leather which I have not seen before and the stitching around the handles and sun visors you can just tell it's been done to a very high standard.

Pic’s don’t really show the depth of the colour and the shine it has but when the sun hits the paint, it looks really nice and it has so much sparkle.

The car came with it's original 20 inch alloys and also with a set of 21 inch AMG alloys. The 21'' were black and I had the refurbished in hyper silver.

I also lowered the car and fitted a boot spoiler

Here are some pic's.
First few pic's were taken one day after picking the car up.
Parked up next to it's big brother

I took off all the wheel arch liners, all the covers under the car and gave the car a thorough clean underneath.

After the refurb

Here its with the 21's fitted, lowered and boot spoiler on

Sooooo Nice!!! What year is it? what's the paint color? do you have pics of the leather roof liner? I have a 2009 S63 Graphite Designo, light grey leather and light poplar wood interior, with suede roofliner.

Nice ride
That's a great looking car! I looked for a M156 powered one for a few months but could not find anything this nice. The newer twin turbo motor is awesome but it doesn't sound like the big 6.2 at 7k rpm ;-)

It’s a late 2012 model
I will take some pics of the roof liner and post them here. I haven’t seen another S class here in the uk with a leather roof liner
Your car sounds lovely as well

it’s very time consuming doing the underside but I think it also prolongs the life of the car as it will stop it from getting rusty. There’s still room for improvements on the underside but I won’t be able to do anything anytime soon.
if I can get it to look like I’ve done on some of my previous cars, then I’d be happy

I recently drove a C63AMG, the one with the 6.2 V8 M156 engine and I have to admit, the sound was amazing and addictive. Performance was impressive too especially when comparing with the e92 M3 I had

Beautiful car, love the extensive work you're putting into it and yes the M156 exhaust note is very intoxicating.

My S63 is an M156...and yeah, it's the sound to which every other car is compared.

I laughed when I realized that I have a habit of leaving my door open when I start the car, just to hear the cold start sound reverberate throughout my garage 😂

I’ve painted the brakes on both cars and here are the results,

I wanted to do a half decent job on the cars so I went to the paint shop and asked for some advise on what I needed to buy to good results.
I should have just done them like I normally do, just paint them silver and not go ott with it like I did this time but I thought i'd be brave and try something different.

I bought,

X3 primers

X3 white paint

X3 yellow paint

X2 silver paint

X3 lacquer

X1 black paint

It has been such a headache of a job as it took soooo long to strip and prep them. All the masking, painting and waiting for the paint to dry to use the other paints to finally have yellow calipers

I got told after using primer, I had to paint the calipers white and then yellow otherwise the yellow paint would look greenish.

Striping the paint off all the brake calipers, caliper carriers, sanding down and stripping the paint off the covers seemed like it took ages to do.

I spent 3 full days on each car just for the brakes alone. Either I’m slow or it really was a long job!

Here are some pics

Wrapped the car up so I wouldn’t get any over spray on the body panels.
The silver car was moved after this pic's

I took the S63AMG out today. It was the first time that I’ve taken it out for a proper drive since it was lowered, new wheels and spoiler were fitted.

I’ve been using the S65AMG more and that car gets a lot of attention but the attention the S63 gets is something else!

Time for another update,

After I bought the car, I realised that the engine mounts needed changing. I wanted to get the engine mounts done on both cars at the same time and arranged one day with a friend of mine to give me a hand.

We started off with the S63AMG as all we had to do on that car was the engine mounts and gear box mount.

To be honest, it wasn’t a bad job to do. It took us just over an hour to get all three mounts changed.

The engine mounts were bad on the S63, especially one as it was leaking out fluid when we removed it.

Here are some pic’s.

Gearbox mount looked good but I still went ahead and changed it

There was a car meet recently and I thought why not take both cars there! They got some attention and compliments which was nice to hear

After the meet, I took the cars back and parked them in the garage.

As I pulled into the garage, I left the S63 parked in a corner at first. When I went to move the S63 to park it properly, I noticed a big puddle of oil on the floor! My heart sank at first as I thought it was engine oil. But I soon realised it was a different type of fluid…… It was ABC fluid that had come out from the reservoir.

I parked the car and started doing some reading online. A few people said that when one of the ABC accumulators fails, the fluid comes out from the reservoir.

Monday morning I went to Mercedes and ordered both accumulators. If one had failed I thoughts it's best to change both of them.

It took over a month for them to arrive from Germany!
I had also bought ABC fluid to flush the whole system and the ABC filters.

It seemed easy to flush the system but the accumulators were a bit hard to come off. I have the special tool that sucks the fluid out from the ABC tank. Just activate the rodeo test and the fluid comes out while you top up with the new fluid.

Here are some pic’s of the accumulators. The front one was the faulty one.

You can see the cable tie goes all the way in

asus netbook keyboard problem

This is where we are at the moment with the S63AMG.... I had to do quite a bit more work to the S65AMG and I will update that thread next.
