07 S65 ABC OMG
Hi everyone! I am fairly new to Mercedes, but saw a beauty of a vehicle and just HAD to buy her....sight unseen.....knowing there were "some minor suspension things". (minus the rims....they likely have to change). She is a high mileage (120k) 2007 s65 AMG with the ABC malfunction (and a few other things). There is a Mercedes only shop quasi-local to me who said that the system needs a lot of parts and that they can't find any of the accumulators or pumps or whatnot. The mechanic working on her said that he's done a bunch of research and can't come up with a place that has the replacement parts, nor can he find a suitable coil-over system. I would love to keep it true to her heritage and have the ABC working......is there a different kind of mechanic or shop that you'd recommend to do this ABC/hydraulic system?
I've not looked into repairing it myself, although I'm moderately handy and can follow directions, but the name "Mercedes" and all the German cars have that stigma of being difficult to work on. I would just hate to screw things up worse.

My experience with ABC Specialists was a positive one. More expensive but shipping was surprisingly quick and the install went smoothly. (2005 S55 ABC Tandem Pump - only 5,600 miles / 1 year since install, but no issues to report). Good luck!

I'm still learning the differences between the w220, 221, 222 and all the various numbers of the MB world. It's a whole new ballgame for me (who historically is a Mopar guy, but expanding into lots of makes and models now that I'm in my mid 40s and have some more coin to spend on them (although not as much as I'd like to have. I like eclectic things)
I'll push to repair the ABC and if I get kickback from the mechanic, maybe I'll try to tackle it myself at some point in the future.

Try to get under the car and see what's leaking or calling for attention. That'll help you more than just turning over a parts list to a mechanic who isn't one of your best friends.
If this is the way the car sits I'd first want to know whether it raises and lowers. If not, I'd want to see if the struts are leaking. If not, I'd want to know if the pump is delivering pressure. If not I'd want to make sure there's enough fluid in the system. And on and on. In short, there's a playbook for these things that goes way beyond "replace everything."
I know a guy who was once quoted $23k to basically replace everything on an ABC car he bought, but he was able to follow the known playbook, spend about a tenth of that and be happy as a clam. The 3 people who have responded to your inquiry so far know that playbook plenty well enough to help you better than giving a parts list to someone with every incentive to replace them all.
