Placing deposit soon... suggestions on options

So this is the configuration I'm looking at:
  • MY16 S63 Coupe 4MATIC.... $163,150
  • designo Cashmere White (matte)... $3,950
  • 20-inch AMG 10-spoke forged (black)... $2,200
  • Swarovski crystal headlamps... $1,750
  • AMG exterior carbon fiber package... $6,500
  • designo Exclusive Crystal Grey/Black Nappa leather... $3,250
  • designo Black Piano Lacquer "Fine Lines" wood... $1,300
  • AMG Performance Steering wheel... $500
  • Burmester High-End 3D Surround Sound system... $6,400
  • Driver Assistance Package... $2,800
  • Night View Assist PLUS... $2,260
  • AMG Carbon Ceramic braking system... $8,950
  • Transportation charge... $925

MSRP $203,935

Damn the price climbs fast with all the goodies...

Base price went up about $2,300 from MY15, with no bundled or reduced priced options that I found.

These changes to the option list would drop the price substantially:
  • designo Diamond White Metallic paint w/o carbon fiber pkg -$9,655
  • Delete Swarovski/Nightview -$4,010
  • Standard Burmester sound system -$6,400
  • Steel brakes with red calipers - $8,250

With those changes, the MSRP would drop to $175,620

Any thoughts on which of those options I would most regret not having ? I do have the cashmere white paint now on my CLS63 and love it. The HK sound system sucks, I figure the standard Burmester is likely better but I'm an audiophile with a very high end 2 channel system at home. Nightview I don't need, but it's a prerequisite for the Swarovski lamps which are some nice jewelry. As for the brakes, well I won't be tracking the car, and would not consider the CCBs if I did; I hate brake dust and constantly cleaning wheels, and figure the CCBs would last lifetime of the car rather than requiring a $6k brake job at 40-50k miles. The wheels on my CLS63 don't stay clean long, even with me driving only about 750 miles per month.

I cannot legitimately deduct lease payments so am leaning towards purchasing this time around, unless there is a very attractive incentive which is not bloody likely.

2015 S63 Coupe, 2015 Escalade ESV P, 2014 ML63(sold),2013 G63(sold),2013 SL550(sold),2012 S550(sold)
To be honest, it's all personal preference. Having left a 2014 ML63 for the 2015 S63 coupe I wouldn't get the AMG performance steering wheel. It came standard in my ML and I hated it. It's micro fiber/suede wears over time and just gets funky. I have the padded leather steering wheel and personally prefer that. I know it doesn't save much but that's me.

Many say the night view is a waste and a novelty and I haven't read of anyone using it consistently. Most also say the CCB are overkill unless you're gonna track the car (which you said you're not). I know they last longer and I had them on my 2013 GTS Porsche Cayenne, but I don't keep cars that long so I never change breaks anyway. Now yes, the car will be about 40lbs lighter and that's unsprung weight but again, who's racing? The standard composite breaks are VERY grabby and work very well... for me. Plus if you get the black wheels you won't see the brake dust anyway.

If you love the matte white get it, but I have the diamond and it looks great, however I didn't custom order my car. If I had I might have gone with matte grey I also have the Designo Crystal Grey/Black nappa leather. My wife loves it but I kinda wish it was all black or saddle brown. just concerned with the light grey leather showing dirt etc... and jeans will stain it so watch out! Black is definitely the easiest for maintenance and upkeep.

Ultimately get what makes you love the car. There's nothing worse than spending almost $200,000 on a car and then wishing you had got this or that. In for a penny, in for a pound! As for the base price increase, I mentioned in my other post to you that it may have something to do with the new Mbrace system being installed and the 5 years no charge service included with that.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Rob

Now that I actually have the car and have spent quite a bit of time with it, I can't think of a single option I'd be willing to part with, except maybe the refrigerator. As for the brake dust, I was only bothered by it for the first week. I put a set of ceramic pads on the baby (<$300 installed) and dust is gone.

I just can't stop thinking about this post, so I have to put in my 2 cents. I'm puzzled as to why you seem to think that you have to pay sticker price, or even close to it.

The sticker on mine is $193k plus $1750 for the Swarovskis...
I paid $176k and change. Granted, it's an unusually good deal, but it proves it's doable.

I have not heard of anyone getting > 7% off, much less ~ 10% off, on a new S63 Coupe. On the sedans it is common...

Any tricks to share ? Also when did you negotiate the price, upon placing the order or upon delivery ?

I have looked at the EU Delivery models, which can usually be negotiated at 7-10% off, but the S63 is not one of them.

I made the deal via e-mail, then went and placed the order with a 5k deposit. The day I took delivery, the owner of the 34 dealership group was there to meet the guy that got lowest priced S63 Coupe they'd ever sold (and never will again). I can't say exactly how I pulled this off, but suffice it to say, you need brass *****.

Not sure if your success can translate for normal buyers

I agree, discounts can be had off AMGs

But IIRC aren't you waiting almost 2 years for your car

Far from normal buying experience

You recall incorrectly. Ordered a 2015 on 12/17/14. Got a 2016 on 9/2/2015...

All in all, other than the delayed production (because of unavailability of the carbon fiber) and a 6 week wait at the VPC because of an "open modification on the model" a very normal buying experience.

I got about 7% on my CLS63. Figured that would be the best I could do on a S63 Coupe.

Well I can try emailing the local dealerships and see what they say, but I'm not Donald Trump at the negotiating table and doubt I will get anywhere near 10%! I think around here most are still selling very near MSRP.
