2017 S Class Convertibles DOG

I've had this document for a bit and have studied it. I noticed a few changes that might apply to the coupe too. To my knowledge the MY17 coupe DOG has not been released yet.
- Deleted option > 557 Heated Windshield
- New option > P60 Exterior Night Styling Package for all models
- New option > designo Porcelain / Deep Sea Blue Exclusive nappa leather for all models
- Change - Crystal Grey / Black leather > Crystal Grey / Seashell Grey for AMG only
I wonder if the Crystal Grey / Black > Crystal Grey / Seashell Grey is an error, or if not perhaps it's only applicable to the cabriolet. It seems unusual to change it up in the M17 and make this one particular color combination different on the S550 versus S63/65. Upholstery colors have previously been identical, with the only difference between the non-AMG and AMG models being the tuft pattern - I wish that were the same too as I definitely prefer the look of the S550 seats. Anyway I was planning on ordering my My17 S63 Coupe with the Crystal Grey / Black combo so hopefully it still available.
IWC dashboard clock is listed as standard equipment (pg 14) which is certainly incorrect; I've only seen the dashboard clock in the saloon.
All photos I have found of the cabriolet interior show absolutely no change from the MY15/16 S Coupe, other than the cabriolet specific features of course, and the new porcelain/blue leather combo.


If it does change and it's very important to you, maybe you should look around for an already-produced '16 Coupe. I suspect that if you find one that suits you, you'll be able to negotiate a significant discount vs. MSRP.
You're right on the Clock. It's only on the sedan. Maybe it will be corrected on the next A217 DOG update (if there is one).
I am thinking the Grey/Grey might be another error in the early A217 DOG, along with the clock... they might have been incorrectly copied and pasted from the S Class sedan file, which has both the IWC clock and an avaiable Crystal Grey / Seashell Grey interior.
Also the Mercedes-Benz Germany site has an active online configurator for the cabriolet, and the upholstery option shown remains Grey/Black. It seems up to date too, with the new Porcelain / Deep Sea Blue option available. However, based on the existing A217 DOG and online configurators available in UK & Germany, it seems that Nightview remains a prerequisite for the crystal headlamps for MY17. It can be assumed all the headlamps assembled with Swarovski crystals also have the IR illuminators installed, and they want their $ for them.
Guess we will find out in a week. Disappointing that there is so little change for MY17. Maybe they will allow an upgrade to COMAND NTG 5.5 when it is officially released with the W213, that's probably the best we can hope for.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Most resales look like dealer specs - black or white exterior paint, black interior, DAP and W/C packages, few other options. The Edition1 would be perfect, save for the red interior which isn't to my liking.
I'm looking for a highly optioned car (except for SplitView which I absolutely do not want) with the porcelain or preferably the grey/black interior... not going to be easy to find.

Who needs Ceramic brakes on this coupe? You won't be tracking it. It's a beauty Queen....

Don't care as I am looking to keep this car for sometime
And I plan on paying cash
With the CCB's - Just everyday use they should last
much longer than the steel brakes
They are what I want
When I pay $200k for a car I want it to look the way
I want it to look
I plan on an ECU tune - tint - lowered - Downpipes
and HRE's
But with the release of the MY17 S63 Coupe DOG
I have decided to wait not only for the 9 speed transmission
but also for the updated electronics
In a couple of years the S63 Coupe will be referred to as
the new ones with the 9 speed or you have an old one with the 7 speed
Kind of like the shrinkage one experiences after having been in the
swimming pool

I'm planning on CCBs because they won't need to replaced in 4-5 years of anticipated ownership, they generate minimal dust, and they look f'ing cool. It is certainly the rarest option to see on a S63/65, understandably because of the cost, so it adds a bit more exclusivity on a car that is already very exclusive. As for the track, yeah it is not a race car at nearly 2-1/2 tons. But particularly for those like me who plan to get an ECU power upgrade (600 whp and 700wtq should is obtainable on 91 pump gas, more with 93), it will probably see quarter mile runs and some occasional street drags and the CCBs will hold up much better. I wouldn't want CCBs on a primarily track car because they are too costly to replace.

I was disappointed that none of the new tech made it for MY17. If my CLS63 lease weren't ending I'd be inclined to wait too. I suspect some of the new tech like Drive Pilot could be enabled by software, if Mercedes followed Tesla's initiative and offered updates for existing owners. Not bloody likely, though.
It will be interesting to see how the 9G works out in the AMG models. Not sure I'd want to be buy one of the early adopters. The 7G-MCT has been pretty damn good in my CLS63-S, after years of incremental refinements, and I know it can reliabley handle massive torque. Everything points to an engine downsize in the refresh to the 4L V8TT; it surely will be boosted like the E63S to ~ 600hp, but torque cannot match the M157 and there is probably little or no headroom to further increase output via the ECU.
And remember release of a refreshed car means the next generation vehicle is already in progress...

If you're keeping the car for a while I can understand the justification for the carbon fiber brakes actually as they want $3000 for front brakes are my CL 63. And no brake dust !
I totally agree with your decision to wait for the nine speed transmission. That will completely differentiate your car.
Also for those who are waiting on the 9sp, it may not show up in the coupe or cabriolet until MY19, late summer of fall 2018, a year after the sedan.

Looks like the only change vs. the previous DOG is to the top speed for the S63s/S65s ( to 186mph).
Probably a typo in the first place or a carry over from the S63/65 European models that don't have the Driver's Package option.
Interesting to note that this is the 4th update (for both C217 and A217 DOGs) since the original DOG issue.

Still have two local dealers that get a lot of 'heavy metal' cars telling me there are no allocations yet for the S63 coupe. They also both told me there would be some new safety technology in them, presumably from the E... guess time will tell. Based on the DOG, only MY17 changes are the availability of the exterior night styling package and porcelein/blue interior options. And a net price increase of $1050 (base MSRP + $1600, DAP - $550).
