Curious about suspension set ups for my 16 S63. I recently picked it up and got stage 1 tuned. Now that performance has been taken care of, I am considering addressing the cosmetics and ride height. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance gents
I had the LoMo installed and have been very pleased with it. The front and rear ride height settings are independently adjustable. Driver and passenger wheels are always at identical and stable height, which was never the case with the old Renntech module I had in a CLS55. Settings are fully integrated into COMAND and adjusted using the steering wheel buttons; no extra hardware i.e. tablet is needed. It can also be bypassed which is useful for longer trips to reduce inner tire wear, on rough roads to maximize ride comfort, and of course dealership service visits to have the suspension at factory settings.
I typically drive with the module set at -3 front and -5 rear which gives the car a nice aggressive stance with most of the wheel gap eliminated, yet does not adversely affect ride quality or result in the bottomed-out ghetto look. It is probably about a 20-25mm drop.
We recently launched our all new lowering module which utilizes the OBD2 port and takes just seconds to lower/modify the vehicles ride height. Simple plug-n-play solution with full adjust-ability using either Windows or Android OS devices.
I have considered going air ride on my C43 but I was told that no one makes a kit for the W205 4matic. Not sure if that applies to the S-Class as well, but worth taking note of. Good luck with the car!
I've been looking into an ELM Afro my S63. LoMo seems the best option, as Heisenberg stated, fully adjustable through the steering wheel.
I inquired about Renntechs version too. Need the tablet or connect to PC to adjust height. The worst part is, the unit is married to YOUR car. So, if u wanna remove it and sell it, or put it on a different car you can't. UNLESS, you send it back to them to reprogram for $750. Technically, I was quoted 50% of the cost of the unit.

Here are a few pics with the LoMo set at -3 front, -5 rear. This gives the same wheel-fender gap front and back. Visually I cannot see any obvious difference in camber.
The OEM Conti 5P tires lasted 8k miles before the outer tread was completely worn. The inner tread was worn too, but less so. The center tread was hardly worn. This wear pattern is typically the result of underinflation, rather than excessive camber. In fact, any further negative camber from the LoMo might have helped! The rear tires, interestingly, showed considerably less and more uniform wear, they had plenty of miles left. I had used the cold psi recommended in the owner manual, i.e. listed on the fuel door placard.
I just had the Conti 5P replaced with Michelin PS4. Despite the guidance in the owner manual and on the fuel door placard, I was advised to keep the cold tire pressure near 50 psi, as listed for max load on the driver door placard, for best tire life. Unfortunately this really detracts from ride comfort, not to mention lots of new vibrations and rattle noises in the cabin. So I will have to try to find a good compromise between ride quality and tire life.
I still have significantly more brake dust on the rear than the front, and rear brakes still get hotter too. Dealer found nothing amiss during recent service, so I assume it is related to the EBFD system as you had suggested before. It is just weird because it was the exactly opposite on my previous 2014 CLS63-S.
At the psi recommended on the fuel door placard, my front tires ~ 40 psi cold lost all tread at the margins (inner < outer) by 8,000 miles. The rear tire obviously held up much better. See photos below.
WSI in Tempe suggested cold pressure near 50 psi to get better tire life. That sure detracts from the ride quality so will have to find a compromise between comfort and tread life. The rear tires were run in the low-mid 30 psi range with acceptable wear, so it seems to be an issue with how AMG configures front suspension. I will get an alignment done but I believe there is only factory adjustability for toe.
I've had premature wear problems with the Conti 5P in the past, so it may have something to do with the tires themselves. Michelin Pilot Sport 2 and Vredestein Ultrac Vorti both held up far better on my previous AMG CLS cars compared with the OEM Continentals.
I used Porterfield RS-4 low dust brake pads, might try the Akebono next time. I get little dust up front, but a decent amount on the rears. If I end up trading this in for a new S63 (not certain that makes much sense given the changes) I will definitely opt for the ceramic brakes.
I bought the lowering module that plugs into the OBD2 port. Has stock program, low program pre loaded, and custom program, where you can lower or raise the car to what you want. All this is done through the dash screen (the one on the right). Very easy to use and you need no tools. Just plug it in and go. Here are some photos.
