Congrats! Mine is scheduled to be built next week. How long before build date were you able to make changes ?

Btw I have the white exterior w/ tan/black leather combo on my McLaren and love it.

Hard to tell. I checked with the dealership about a week before original build date, discovered that it was messed up beyond belief and had them fix it. Now, I'm not sure if that was the regular delay or the act of fixing the build that pushed the date.

I'm a big fan of saddle brown, had gone through most of the colors over the years and this is the one I like the most. Exterior was a tougher choice and it was between white and black after looking at most of the colors in real life. I'm not yet ready for another black car and white looked awesome on the cab dealership had.

I guess my next questions to spend some wait time are going to be more prosaic
- to XPEL or not to XPEL (and to what degree of coverage, there were some good suggestions on the thread)
- research the latest on the integrated detectors (I guess it is still the same one vendor solution with Escort)

I did European delivery. When I returned my car to the shipper in Stuttgart I was told 13 weeks until I can expect to pick it up at my dealer in Los Angeles. It seems like a very long time but not much I can do about it.

I'd PPF at least the hood and front bumper, and rocker area, full car costs double but is worth it on a new S Coupe in my opinion. XPEL and Suntek films are both excellent. If you happen to like the satin look, both offer a product that, when applied to the full car, will give you the magno cashmere white look.

If you have a lot of laser in your area, ALP with NetRadar DSP integrated system is the best bet, or the Escort 9500ci. The Uniden R3 or R7 are exceptional portable detectors, but obviously won't really protect against laser. I use an R3 which works very well when mounted in the proper place (high on the windshield, just to the right of the RVM), and got 12v via MirrorTap. Previous had a 360Max which was worthless, didn't really work through the Mercedes windshield and the GPS connection was horrid; got a replacement under warranty and it was same, so avoid it.

Hopefully the 13 weeks will be less, i.e. underpromising and overdelivering.

Not a fan of the satin look. Dan B referenced http://www.eastsideautosalon.com/ that I will make a visit to.

Interesting that Max 360 didn't work well for you, I've moved to it from V1 and it worked really well so far. With not much laser coverage in the area, I'm considering Ci 360.

Anyone know if it is possible to track car delivery with a VIN?

Yeah I'm going to keep it glossy. Went and looked at some magno cars today and decided that I'm over the satin look. Best thing about satin is how it hides clear coat defects but not really an issue with PPF.

Biggest problem I had with the Max 360 is that the GPS often took 15-20 minutes to connect, if ever, and would frequently drop the link once connected. Even tried it outside the car and it was the same. The Uniden connects almost instantly every time. Most of my trips are < 15-20 minutes so many of the nice features of the Escort (i.e. auto lockouts, photo radar locations, etc) were not functional. And the sensitivity is inferior to the Uniden models, requiring a strong signal to set it off through the OEM MB windshield even when mounted up to the right of the passenger mirror. The mount and size of the detector wasn't able to fully get it over the opening in the shield which no doubt was part of that. Uniden at first was missing the directional arrows, but now has it with the R7. Auto GPS lockouts unfortunately are still not available although the detector supposedly will eventually support it once the Escort patent expires.

Igor -

Eastside Auto Salon in Bellevue is the best in the Northwest -

You will be dealing with Ben for the Expel and with Joey for any paint / detail questions -

If you are thinking about having your windows tinted you will be talking with Rudy

who tints as Mr. Tint & Sun in the same shop - all in one stop -

They are very knowledgeable regarding the S63 Coupe -

What works what doesn't -

Attention to detail and done right -

Please P.M. Dan if you have any questions -

Thank-You
D.B.

Should not take that long—that is probably the worst case scenario. I did Euro Delivery November 2018 on my ‘19 S63 AMG sedan. It was 38 days from drop off in Bremerhaven to arrival at my dealer in Pittsburgh, PA. I did drive it from southern Germany to northern Germany to the port where the cars get on the ship. Granted mine was probably one of the shortest times but yours should not be 13 weeks. Of course yours will be going to a west coast port so that would add a couple of weeks alone compared to mine at the Baltimore port.

+1 on what D.B. said. Both did an awesome job on both our AMGs. Attention to details and good people = great experience and outstanding results.

XPEL, tinting, ceramic coating, superb detailing and all done in one great place. Highly recommended.

PM if you need any info! Enjoy your awesome AMG!! Take care and best —Dan

Car is in US now, on the carrier between LA and Seattle. Took about 6 weeks "on the ship" time. My date with Eastside Auto Salon is set for Xpel.

Hopefully will have real pictures next week.

And don't forget tinting with Rudy (Me. Sun and Tint). He works with Ben and Joey at Eastside - one stop shop for awesome assistance by great folks.
