Out of state Pre Purchase Imspection - 09' S65
Hi all, looking to get a MB dealership to inspect a S65 for a PPI.
The local dealership does not offer a PPI service, but the owner is willing to bring the car in for general diagnostic at hourly rate.
I'm listing out a few area of interest as I'm paying out of pocket for this inspection.
I think 1.5 hours might be enough.
Thoughts welcome and thank you.
Area of interest:
-Error codes on the car. If none - specifically, when codes might have been cleared last time.
-Any outstanding recall campaign(s).
-Would like a redacted copy of VMI It contains some previous owner details, they may or may not be able to offer it, but they very often will tell you about the VMI over the phone. It's about how you ask 😄. (Service records, any work that was done at a MB dealer ship.)
-ABC (Active Body Control) pump / system area leaks / issues and codes.
-Oil leaks on the engine, valve cover, rear main seal... Various locations.
-Suspension, test operation and look for leaks / excessive play / issues.
-General electronics issues? Heated seats operational? Command?
-Road test. Stability at speed Looking for alignment issues. test Distronic , Parktronic.
-Any general body damage repairs?
-General safety check. (Matching tires? thread depth?) Brake pads / rotor needed?

Porsche guy who drives SL63 w/ perf pkg AND perf suspension
the dealership should do a cpo inspection. They do that to every car they resell. To know if they are going to cpo it or not. That checks everything they do to certify a car.

Thx! That's a great idea, any idea how much service labor hours dealer typical charges to do a CPO like inspection?
