Front bumper removal

17 S63 cabrio

Has anyone taken off their front bumper by themselves ? I’m making an adjustment to my grille . I know there are some bolts on the top under the hood , I know I also have to take off plastic tray under the car . It seems there is a bolt holding the bumper to the fender as well . Does anyone remember anything other then this that could be an issue for me ? Thanks in advance .

Porsche guy who drives SL63 w/ perf pkg AND perf suspension
you take off the fender well liners. thers a screw or screws on each side where the bumper meets the fender and there are 2 screws to the inside near the radiator on little brackets, that are hard to find

So after the two hidden bolts gentle wiggle and when bumper finally comes forward depending on your model and options mine had 2 wiring harnesses in driver side unclip those and away you go.

with bumper laying on saw horses or on ground on moving blanket, etc you will have crash guard (?) cross member you need to remove (see picture -highlighted in yellow) two recesses in each side.

then along top you have clips you need to push the centers toward center of grill and bottom I had some guard that made it difficult to find and push in.

the star twist 10-15 degrees (remember to look at orientation). It only goes in one way but what. A PIA to figure it out when you don’t 😳🤦🏼‍♂️

clean up and reinstall. Good luck with mods or better yet trying to keep it stock 😊🤷🏼‍♂️
On top is to the right, 4 at bottom from crash bumper support. Clips along top, sides and bottom to push inward

Another snap-together bumper that is about an Onion of layers. When you 'get' to replace one of the lower grills it will be cringeworthy as it comes apart. You'll swear that everything is going to break as it comes apart.

😆 I hope that isn’t anytime soon. It was the most cumbersome grill replacement of any AMG I have had or worked on.

Took me some time to get my head around it sounding and feeling like it was all breaking as I replaced the lower center grille.
