How is everyone hooking up their Battery Tender?

Hello everyone,
I have a 2015 S63 Coupe and am purchasing a new battery. I want to make sure I keep this one maintained as I did not drive the vehicle often. I have a NOCO Genius 10 that I purchased for it. The question I have is where you are all hooking it up? Under the hood? Direct to the battery using wires? Anywhere else I’m not sure about? Also is it worth buying a CTEK over the Noco? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

CTEK here. Dealership provided. I charge with an open hood. I don’t plug into outlet until I attach alligator clips to red(+) positive battery terminal, and black(-)negative clip to hexagonal ground attachment point. I let it run until I get a green battery fully charged LED. I either unplug for no more than a day, or leave it plugged, and turn on the accessory mode, which resets the trickle charger to 3/4 charge LED or 1/2 charge LED. Since these batteries degrade faster when overcharged, I minimize the amount of time the green full charge LED is illuminated. I am not sure of the specs of the CTEK whether it stops charging the battery once the charger indicates full charge.

I wired mine under hood, + wire to the + jump terminal and - wire to the ground lug under hood, bought a 35 amp charger tender off Amazon as it was also rated to charge Lithium Ion batteries. Got the right plugs off Amazon too, to make and extension cord. This charger also works well keeping the battery charged while doing diagnostic repairs. And know this, the AMG's use a Lithium Ion battery that is hard to get if at all, if you need to replace it with a AGM, your car will need to be reprogrammed to charge an AGM battery, SEE THE BENZ NINJA!

I put my S63 on the charger anytime it's not going to be driven 3 or more days.
I also run a new set of these electronic rodent/insect repellants. Mice really love Mercedes-Benz wiring, yep Amazon.

I use the same NOCO under the hood with hood open.
on my wife’s CLK500, I have a smaller NOCO wired permanently to the battery under the hood. I just plug in an extension fished through the grill when out of town. Works well.
i would have done the same if battery on S63 was under the hood.

How exactly did you wire it to the terminals. If you could take a pic that would be amazing and would appreciate it.

unfortunately the battery is in the trunk bending the rear seat and the panel. I’m not even sure you can put it direct to the battery. I was told MB made a direct wire that connect right to the CTEK but it was only for the cabriolet models.

I use the MBZ charger. I believe its a CTEK. I had the dealer tech hard wire the tail end of the charger under the hood. I have two cars with that setup that tend to sit for longer periods of time and no issues with either.

1) So you don't need to use the battery's negative terminal. Any solid ground point will work. I use the readily accessible positive terminal (just slide the red top), and here's the nut I use (at the bottom of the pic, circled in red) that's a large and easily accessible ground point for the negative terminal, and I don't have to take apart any of the plastic shrouds & covers as was done in the pics above.

2) If you have a Lithium battery, you def wanna make sure you get a charger/tender made for lithium batteries. Don't waste money paying stealership prices for a rebranded CTEK. Just buy this one: CTEK Battery Charger - Lithium US - 12V, Part #56-926. It's $125, but I found it for $92 here via a quick Google search: https://www.hptautosport.com/product...lithium-us-12v.

I posted earlier but can’t find it. Mine was installed at the dealer when new

It’s attached to the posts both positive and negative with the nuts on the terminal and run to the side for the plug to exit out the bottom of the fuse door on the passenger side rear carpet. I just plug it into the outlet every time I come home. A simple and easy way to keep my cars battery in peak condition without even knowing it is anything but factory. It is a MB numbered part.

I wonder if it's the same OEM plug & harness in the trunk of Cabrios...?

thanks again for these pics. I installed the M10 eyelets in the same spots as you and I have my Noco Genius 10 plugged in. It’s perfect because it’s a smart charger and goes into tender mode so I never have to touch it. Thanks again.
