s560 vs s63
#2
I owned both the S63 2015 and S550 at the same time for just over 2 years. It depends what you want ,but S550 and I am guessing the S560 will be very close as well to this observation. I did not find a huge difference in general feel, but the S63 always felt much more sharp and that obviously is due to AMG tuning. The power comes on with much more urgency with the S63 and the ride was just a little bit more stiff as well.

For daily use, if you often carry passengers, 560 would be hands down better choice, with more then adequate performance.
S63, while a terrific performer, is a bit confusing as a luxury limo, the MCT transmission just does not really work well in that package.
I can live with it in a more nimble and aggressive E63 but it was very frustrating in S63.
Have not driven the '18 model and I hear it is much improved but that is the key word: "improved", not perfect.

I was very clear, I think you should read it again, more carefully this time.

I have the 2018 s63. I love the car and wouldn’t think twice about a 560. Its a giant luxury sedan with high performance. With the new exhaust flaps you can have the car quiet or louder. When it comfort it’s very smooth and when in sport it’s smooth but with better throttle and handling. Sports plus is a whole other catagory. I test drove the 560, yes it is quick and a great car but the handling is not comparable to the 63 and prefer the sounds of the 63 also

Have to agree with Delta here. Different car for different wants. The 2018 S63 is insane - the combo of luxury and performance and presence takes it to another level. I did not get that feeling in the 550/560 when I drove it. I did when I tested the 2016 S63...then ordered the 18. The minute I drove it I knew I made the right decision for me...about 2000 miles in with no regrets.
All that said, the 560 will save you some coin, and is an amazing vehicle. Once you make the jump to the S63 it is just about “wants”...no one “needs” an AMG.

Personally I would take the S63 without hesitation, since obviously it is superior in performance to S560.
I would recommend the latter though, to someone who drives a lot in a city and carries passengers most of the time.
Different cars for different purposes, no dissing the MCT transmission but while providing a superior performance it does not compare to regular slushbox in smoothness and passenger sea sickness avoidance, it is a bit too aggressive for a limo duty.

You really misunderstood my intention.

I prefer the S560, with the flaps now it makes nice sounds, the AMG’s take way a bit of comfort and I like the price and comfort better.
The AMG’s are always tugging at the leash, awesome but I have other cars for that.
The look and the power surge is awesome in the 63 and 65 but if id get one of those it would just be for the looks, perhaps the magic ride on the S65 makes it as comfy as a 560?
