My S63 is completely dead
This morning, with no symptoms or warning, my 2014 S63 refused to unlock or respond in any way to the key fob. Unlocked the door with the blade key & tried to start it with the fob, nothing. I guess either the battery suddenly died or some computer in the car decided it had enough. Is this normal behavior for a low battery? I would figure the Benz would throw some kind of low battery visit workshop warning on the dash. Anyway, not sure if I should try jumping it, buy a new battery & install it myself, or getting it flatbedded to the dealer and break out the wallet. Suggestions?

what special li-ion battery are you talking about? You are driving S63, not S400hybrid after all... ![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
it's a regular MB 105Ah battery (A 000 982 18 08), which you can easily replaced with another model battery (92Ah), which is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper (A 001 982 82 08), while having the same size and crank current (above 800Amps).
(original S63 W221 was also ~105Ah large, then they revised it to 92Ah). When checking part numbers, the large one shows up as OE for my S550. But when I look again at the 92Ah one's list of compatible vehicles - your S63 and mine S550 shows up again... strange? :-)

pretty universal one...

Originally the S63 (the 2014 at least) came with a Li-ion battery to save weight ~45lbs. The dealer hasn't gotten back to me yet about whether a regular battery will work, wasn't sure if the charging module was different. But yea, I see the AGM battery is listed for the car. I wouldn't mind the original weight saving battery if it were available, although the dealer said it lists for almost 2 grand... I could find cheaper ways to save 45 lbs, like not eating pasta for 6 months.

does 45lbs make any difference in a car that weights 4500 lbs? ![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
but damn... I hope it does not explode when you overcharge it... normal battery weights 26.3kg (57.9lbs).
Wanna guess how I know... ? ;-)

Well I jumped it, let it idle for a few minutes, and it's been fine ever since. Supposedly the Li-ion is good for 10 years so theoretically it has 3 left.
For the record A0009824113 is the newest part number for the Li-ion battery. $1,117.50 at mbpartsonline.com

Glad you got it working again, I had the exact same thing happen to me about 3 weeks ago. Tried charging the battery with a Noco Lithium battery, It never got over 4-6volts. (burnt out cell)
I managed to get a replacement not brand new, but 3 years newer. (Li-Ion)... There was no battery in the car when I was waiting for the new one to arrive, still trying to revive the old battery outside the car.
New battery finally went in, now the car is completely unresponsive, Noco lithium battery maintainer hooked up in the front of the car, gets GREEN, maintaining a voltage of like 13.86volts. That also means the amg capacitor is good as well (s550s have an Aux battery)
Headlights ON all the time, ambient interior lighting on when doors open, but thats it. dash/command completely black, keys unresponsive, no start, absolutely nothing.
-checked all fuses, relays, (3) prefuse distribution blocks
-opened up the front and rear SAM, look fine
-Can Bus gets 62ohms between H and L (at obd port)
-Power... BUT No communication with obd2 scanners, generic, Autel, and even passthru Xentry
Is it possible that the WHOLE car deprogrammed itself? or did the EIS die?
I read that these cars don't have a Mercedes ZGW Gateway, everything is controlled by the EIS ( I ordered another EIS, Yes I know it will need to be reprogrammed for the key and car to work, but hopefully some of the displays turn on at least)
Trying to find a local Merc Tech to come by because the car is parking far down in my driveway, hard to even get a tow.
Has anyone had something like this before? Anything else I can check.
thank you!

I jumped mine using the front terminals as explained in the owner's manual, using jumper cables connected to a lead-acid battery. The car must have a circuit that allows it to jump the Li-ion battery from a conventional source. Maybe the Noco lithium battery maintainer is getting fooled by this circuit, and the battery is not actually getting charged. I'd try jumping it the regular way.

depending on how long hte car was sitting, you may just have had he keys to close or a door not quite closed.
If as above the computers can stay enabled and suck the current down pretty quickly killing the battery.
In that case it may have been a one off event.
My older GL has a bad rear door latch that can get hung up in the open position. When it happens it will enable the rear SAM which will drain the battery.
When we first got the GL my son left a set of keys in it. same circumstance.
