ECO start/stop
Does anyone use this function? I find it annoying. Does the start/stop and 4-cylinder operation really save fuel? What are the downsides relative to starter, engine, and transmission?

I would, could NEVER drive my car with that stupid, obnoxious feature on. I always turn it off the second I get in the car. When I forget, I get mad at myself as it drives me crazy that dumb stopping of everything, it's all quiet and the car then jumps back to life. Oh no... not that. Never.

You can have it disabled using an OBD plug in module. I can re-enable if I am in traffic for example but it I have it off by default when I start the car. Got mine off eBay, best $150 I have spent.

I find this totally confusing and I read it 4 times. Will this or won't this work with a 2018 MB S63 or not? I can't stand hitting Sport mode every time I get in the car to get out of that dumb eco mode.

I just purchased the second module (new car) to switch off this annoying feature from Mid City Engineering (midcityengineering.com).
Honestly, I still cannot understand why we don't get a choice by MB to use this or switch it off. It just irritates me.
But the OBD programmer worked like a charm and the guys at Mid City (Dan, Michael and RJ) are super helpful, pick up the phone on the spot and the product "Eco Off" works exactly as expected.
I am a big fan of small companies with spot-on solutions and dedicated people, so I can highly recommend them.
