Burmester 3D Tweeter Removal

Has anyone removed the tweeter that spins out from the door on a 2015 or similar? My speaker is dead and I want to replace it but I’m having trouble popping the trim off. I appreciate any advice!

You need to remove the door panels. Because you also need to unplug the connectors that plug in the module.

Thanks for the reply, I guess I should have been more specific though. I just want to replace the speaker inside the module, everything else works still. I saw a video online and it looks like the speaker has a connector on the back of it but could you confirm that? Is there enough cable to pull out the module just enough to just replace the speaker?

The module is mounted onto the door near the door handle. There’s no way to get to it unless you remove the door panel itself.

I just need access to the back of the rotating assembly to replace the tweeter, are you saying that there isn’t enough cord coming from the module to the tweeter assembly to do this?

There should be enough cable.

From my efforts, I’m pretty sure the door panel has to come off anyway. I wasn’t able to get the tweeter assembly out without taking it off. I think the motor gets stuck in the hole on the door panel.

I just wanted to add to this thread incase someone else encounters this. I went to change the speaker today and the wires to the speaker were broken, not the actual speaker. I doubt they’ll let me return the speaker to the dealership… now I just have to get the wiring harness 🙄

They look like standard audio wires. You should be able to just reconnect them then wrap in electrical tape or heat shrink wrap and you’ll be golden. Don't need an entire new wire harness for that.

Very odd they broke off so cleanly and evenly.

Porsche guy who drives SL63 w/ perf pkg AND perf suspension
that can be re soldered, or even crimp wire connectors. thats what the dealer would do. Go to a car stereo shop
Its an elementary repair. I have the same with the mid range because they took the door panel off for something

There's no way they broke that clean and evenly. Someone cut those wires. Not sure what they used to hold them together, or how they would have worked for you since you bought the car, but those were cut. Good news is they can easily be spliced back together.
