S63 transmission

Hey guys new owner of a beautiful s63 and I’m having an awful experience …. Been driving the vehicle for about 600miles when I picked it up from the dealer only had 1 owner all services done at Mercedes and the car drove amazing on streets and highway

I’m on a road trip down to home state stuck in NC because the car was acting sluggish I would put the car in drive and it would drive but had to give it a lot of gas to move and eventually it completely stop moving in a parking garage … like it won’t move at all no matter how much gas I give it … I tried the transmission reset trick but nothing happens.

any ideas and shop recommendations in charlotte NC.

I don't think there is much you are going to be able to do, other than take it to the dealer. I wonder if there are any current or pending codes. A pending code may be stored but won't throw a light. Sorry. These are amazing cars, just very technical.

Let’s hope it’s not a whole transmission replacement that’s gonna sting.

Well the prognosis is that the valve body is completely gone and they estimate this will run me 5k $ ofcourse the car is out of warranty and I knew this going in ….. got to pay to play.

There may very well be a "lemon law" in the state where you purchased your vehicle which could make the seller either fix the problem or refund your money in full. And, if it was from a Mercedes dealer, and there wasn't a lemon law, you should still be able to get them to fix it or give you your money back. A major problem like the valve body being "completely gone" should not be the responsibility of the buyer. You need to fight this.

Kind of wish I would have bought it from Mercedes Benz

but I didn’t and the dealership I bought it from is alpha Romeo of strongville in Ohio where I signed As Is form
which is sad because they a reputable dealership in Ohio they are supposed to be better than your average mom and pops dealership where they will sell you a bad car and screw you over.

I'm pretty sure I got to eat this one and we still waiting for the actual prognosis.

I just hope this is not a thing that goes out every other year or something.

‘Lemon law’ is only for vehicles purchased brand new, and cars that end up in the service department of the OEM manufacturer a certain number of visits to fix one or more issues and in the shop for over a certain number of days. Varies by state. It is pretty rare that it applies and will result in a forever branded title for any car ‘bought back’ by the manufacturer.

Unless the used car was sold with a warranty or in some states ‘Implied Warranty’ the current owner is going to own his used car and get to attend to repairs out of pocket. In virtually every case there will be verbiage to the effect of ‘No cooling off period’ (you buy it and don’t get to change your mind on the way home) as well as disclaimers of any and all verbal or other implied warranties. There is a good reason there is so much fine print in those contracts... read every word and be damned sure you understand what you are signing.

OP it may be worth shopping for a used box for your car that worked before the accident that totaled the car.

7G was known for failed harness connector. What year did S63 get the 9G?

Oh boy, at those miles I would say the car is close to being mechanically totaled. Even if you threw 23K at it, something else is going to break and this car will be a giant money pit. I doubt you have any recourse with the selling dealer and if anything they will tell you to bring the car to them at your expense to have them look at it and probably give you a little lower quote. I would be stunned if they gave you anything towards this repair though. Your best bet if you plan on keeping the car for any period of time is to find a local independent shop that would do the work for probably much less, I would guess you are still looking at 15-20K in work though as even the indi's know what this stuff costs and only do a little better than the dealers. Never, ever buy an AMG car with over 100K miles and no aftermarket warranty, but you know that now. If you do decide to keep it I would get an aftermarket warranty for it, probably another 8-9K though.

That's one hell of a quote. Is it possible to get the car over to an independent? I find that the dealer always throws the whole list of parts at a problem rather than dig deep into investigating the actual issue. A friend of mine mentioned Eurotech out in Matthews, NC knows their stuff.
