Lithium ion battery dead and discontinued
Hello everyone,
My lithium ion battery for my 2015 s63 is completely dead and it has also been discontinued at the dealership. My car has been sitting in the garage dead for over a year.
Can i replace it with an AGM battery instead or are there other lithium ion battery replacement options?

Has anyone tried taking the battery to one of those Batteries and Bulbs places to see if they can break down the battery and replace the cells ? I had them do some custom battery work for me on my Bentley a few years back when the modules and batteries for parts of that car were NLA. They did great work and they do advertise that they do "custom battery work".

I'm having the same issue. Dealer says it's back ordered with no ETA. Car is sitting dead at the dealer. Website says part 000-982-69-25 is discontinued.
I'm getting no answers and at a loss on what to do right now.

@benz567567 , did you try connecting to a lithium battery charger or the ctek with that "reset" procedure?
If you did and its dead dead, might want to consider aftermarket options.

I'm in this boat. Powertex is quoting shipment in 2-3 weeks which does not fill me with warm fuzzy feelings. Mercedes Benz has been unresponsive. Pelican Parts has said "unavailable with no ETA".

I'd be super interested in knowing how the AGM works out for you in this particular car. I have an AGM in another vehicle and its amazing - light weight and quick starts in a brand of car that's known for frequent dead batteries. 2 years with no issues only firing up twice a month.

TL;DR: I’m also waiting on a battery with no eta for my 2019 s63. Dealer said the original battery vendor went out of business and a new vendor has been selected and are in the r&d phase of developing a new battery with no eta and no part number yet.
My eco start/stop and cylinder deactivation doesn’t work because the battery is not giving enough amperage to enable those features. One dealer said it’s the starter battery and have one ordered but it’s on backorder with no ETA. The other dealer said it has been modified with some type of software mod and the only way to fix it is to replace the entire ECU. I think the latter is BS, but I can’t prove it.

Update: I installed a 760CCA, 70ah AGM battery and contracted with @BenzNinja to code the car to accept the battery and not gripe about the absence of the lithium unit. That happened over the past weekend. The error messages and warning messages are gone and the car is fully functional. We took care of the annoying passenger seat belt light while we were in there too. All total I am well below the cost of a new lithium battery.
I see Powertex is still quoting shipments starting in 3 weeks. Uh-huh.
