Exclamation Having Problem with Mileage on S63 4Matic 2015? Can anyone Help?

Alright guys! I just bought a 2015 S63 AMG 4Matic, which is very low in mileage driving only 61000KM/37000 Miles. So the condition of the car overall is fairly like brand New, but i am disappointed by the fuel average! I know i know its an AMG engine. But I had a CLS 550 earlier 2014 and was surprised how good the mileage was on that car! I have been researching alot on the web. Everywhere i look i see this engine M157 or S63 4Matic AMG gives atleast 15MPG in city and 18 to 20 on highway! My car is hardly giving me 7MPG or even less. The total range of the car when the 80Ltr tank is full is hardly 220 Miles. I dont know what i am doing wrong. When the stated mileage on the car is above 350 per tank.

What could be the reason. I drive the car majorly on Comfort setting. Shifting to sports is super less. But the tank empties super fast! I dont know what to do! got the car checked, plugs fuel injectors, everything seems normal.

Either this is the actual mileage of the car and all the reveiws and web says wrong or something wrong with this car!

Please help.

Many factors...
fuel quality and fuel octane, tire wear and tires themselves (like what tires they have, does it have a lot of rolling resistance) alignment, tire pressure, cylinder deactivation (although not fully sure if the 2015 S 63 had that), engine oil quality and life, type of wear in the engine (I think carbon build up can affect it too), sparkplugs might affect it too, what are loaded on the vehicle (like options and if there are cargo), heavy braking and frequent acceleration, stop-and-go?, up hill and down hill, outside temperature, engine start stop (although can't remember if 2015 S 63 had that), engine air filters, a/c on all the time, constantly in the a low gear, idling, aerodynamics, 4MATIC?, etc.

OP are you sitting in stop and go traffic much? Are you a savage about applying power? Have you verified there are not brakes stuck applied? Plug the car into Xentry and perform a quick test. I get 18-20mpg with my 222 S65 for reference. I’m a savage too.

I used to have a 2012 cls550 and now have a 2015 S63 and have the same experience as you lol. I was a little shocked by how different the mpg was. The S63 seems to get 200 miles to a tank and it does worse if my foot is heavy, i’ll end up doing spark plugs and air filters but don’t expect much improvement. Put the foot down and enjoy it!

Well is known for good fuel quality and i use high octane, the best fuel out here. Tires are brand new! alignment and full computer check completed. I think the brakes a bit worn out which i will get changed. Many people say changing spark plugs will make a difference but i doubt it will be a huge difference. i dont thrash the car much as it is a big car, but yes i like the power when needed. 4Matic can be the reason of bad mileage!

I just have no answer on this, i think the reason the mileage is super bad, i have made a lot of research, it can be cause the car is 4matic. I am sure 4matic cars do have less mileage on a full tank than a rear wheel drive car. but mine is super dooper bad! and honestly, if you see the car. It is like brand spanking new condition.

Well so you understand me! My CLS 550 2014 had amazing mileage, on a full tank, use to show the range to 778KM/486 Miles and use to give realistic range of 580KM/362Km on a full tank. I dont thrash the car as much, usually on comfort, just press the paddle when i feel like having fun. But the mileage broooo is super bad! I dont know if you have the 4Matic version. I wanted to know if you do have a 4matic car, do you need to press the paddle to make the car move, as it feels heavy!! I think this is cause of the 4matic system. A bit sluggish, but when i press the paddle it goes!! Do clear me on that.

I accept the fact that plugs and airfilters will cause any major difference to it

Asking it for sport mode will get to pull away with some zest.

Get Peter to give your car some software upgrades. Intelligent lighting can be jailbroke. You will like it. Transmission modes.... adds a mode to it and makes sport mode actually feel sporting without being ridiculous. Sport + is really sporting. Last mode remember is good for making stop-start go away. He has a long list of software tweaks available. BenzNinja

My CLS was rwd, i eventually had gone with a tune, intake, and downpipes for that car. It ran on an E85/91 mix but it still got similar mileage(200 miles a tank). My s63 is a coupe btw! time for a light tune up and hopefully your mpg gets better.

Yes 4MATIC is a burden for sure but a the same time didn't you mentioned the tested fuel economy by other people (I guess journalist?) included 4MATIC? I mean, 4MATIC is standard so they didn't test an S 63 without it. That said, when the car new it probably will have better fuel economy then an older car due to wear, just a guess.

Yup weight is a major contributing factor as you mentioned too.

I see so fuel quality factor is eliminated, tires factors are eliminated, alignment too is a factor eliminated.

I live in Dubai, how will he be able to do the software tweaks? I would like to know more about it. I am not currently impressed with the slugish throttle control on the S63, the launch is stupid in the car, maybe i am use to light cars so i feel that way, but i am sure throttle lag can be improved.

Also, i would like to take on input upon transmission fluid change, do you guys recommend to change the transmission fluid? The current mileage on the car is 63000km/ 40000 Miles. I dont know but i am scared to change transmission fluid on cars! With one bad experience being, i changed the transmission fluid and the car started to have transmission issues, that was an high mileage car. The transmission was completely fine before the new fluid. A few weeks after the fluid change the transmission started having problems.

Give it a go and ask, I believe they do it remotely.

I believe the transmission fluid is due at 50K miles forgot the time interval, 5? 6? years. Hopefully someone else can confirm.

2019 S63 4Matic+, 2018 E400 Cabrio, wardens car.
You should check with your dealer on the trans service interval. AMG cars are different. On my 2019 S63 the trans is every 30K. As far as mileage goes, I am getting around 26MPG on the freeway in comfort mode and around 17MPG in the city with some pretty spirited driving. Something is wrong if you are only getting 7MPG.

I believe S63 2019 has a completed different engine. So i believe there is no point in comparing those.

Hmmmm, is it the estimated mileage or the actual mileage when you fuel up.

Well like I said it is kinda strange but yes the mileage is way way better now. It is giving above 450KM per tank, that is like 100KM than the start

That is good to hear, maybe reset some computer glitch or something but at least it is a good news.
