Exclamation 2017 S63 low dust front brake pads

Hi all,

I have a 2017 S63 sedan (no ccb) and like to daily drive it, however the factory pads are horrible for brake dust.
Looking for suggestions on a good brake pad for the fronts which have stopping power but wont make my front wheels brown/black in a week.

I looked into EBC Redstuff DP31939C, I also looked into Akebono as I had them in a previous car, however it appears they do not have an option for the S63.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you for the quick response superpop , however I am looking to see if anyone has had any luck with a brake pad that is super low dust.

That is why I posted these pads. I have them on my S63 and they produce zero dust and perform as well as the OEM ones.

Forgot to come back to this thread, but as an update for anyone looking in the future.... I put the Power Stop Z261291 on the fronts as recommended here.

They work great and almost no dust, however the brake pad warning sensor cable is too short for the pads. The cut out is on the opposite side. I suppose you can always tape the sensor away if don't need the wear warning.
This may be a 14-17 thing, and not an 18+?

Tie the pair of wires of the wear sensor to each other to mimic a happy healthy wear sensor that won’t light up in the cluster.

I have not done the rotors yet. I am still running the powerstops on the factory rotors. I have 20K miles on these pads though and they still have about half the pad material left. Pretty impressive.

That’s great for iron brakes.

I am about to get my rears done with the power stops. I am having a shop do them, however did you run into any issues with the warning cables mentioned above? Also, I am in Renton so not too far from Newcastle

Cool, you will want to order a new wear sensor for the rear left pad. They are around 5 bucks on Rock Auto.

Cool! No issues on the wear sensor cables during the install?

No issues, it is just a simple plug.

FYI, I did the upgrade several months ago. I did the Z26 on the front and Z23 on the rear. I get less brake dust on the fronts than the rear. OEM rotors up front and Zimmerman rotors on the rear.

By the way, I reused both wear sensors since neither had worn down to the point of needing to be replaced.

I see that there are Z23-1291 (rears) and Z26-291 (fronts?), but I don't see the Z23-1681 part number the Superpop indicated.

Can you tell us what part numbers you ordered Carlos?

Wondering how these compare to Redstuff.

Thank you -

I bought mine from Amazon. I have a biz account so free delivery and no tax. You can buy them anywhere you prefer.
At the time I ordered it was $52 for the fronts and $69 for the rears.

As far as Red-stuff, I have no experience other tha people who have them seem to like them. Pads from different manufacturers are different; each one has their own proprietary formula, some contain more carbon and ceramic than others, even though they are marketed with similar branding. I took Superpop's advice and bought Powerstop pads. He helped me even before I bought my S63, and I rode in his car with him, so I guess you can say he has my trust...LOL. In the end, I couldn't be more pleased. But that's not to say Red Stuff or Akebono wouldn't be good too.

If I had to do it all over again, I would have gone with Z26 on the rears too, only because I get less brake dust on the rear vs the front now. And with OEM I got considerably more brake dust on the front than the rear.

Thank you - I found them. Of course the rears didn't match because I'm looking at a E63 and not a S63!!! Fronts are the same for both cars however...

I'm pretty sure the Z26 is the fronts and Z23 are the rears.

Edit******: I see that the Z26 model is the Extreme (Low Dust?), Where as the Z23 is the Evolution. So there maybe Z26's for the rears - I just haven't found any for my car. Thank you for your opinion on the low dust for the rears and the difference between the Z23 & Z26 - Did you mean that the Z23 are less dust that the Z26 you have on the front???

Z26 on front have even less brake dust than Z23 on rear. I probably won't need to change pads again, at last not for several years, but when I do I'm going with Z26's all around.
There's a thread on the W213 section about brake pads too. One of the things to consider is 90% of brake dust is from the ROTOR, most people think brake dust is from the brake pads themselves.. So the amount of brake dust you get is a direct indicator of rotor wear. Since I changed mine out in May/June I have yet to need to wash my wheels. Prior to this I would need to wash my wheels every couple weeks.
