Crashed.... my baby is hurting

So, unfortunately, this happened....No fluid leaks at all thank the Good Lord. Nobody hurt even more important, and no air bags deployed. I have it at Avondale in Dallas, a Mercedes certified shop for repair now. Lets see how much this is gonna cost.
Anything I need to look out for?

Oops! Looks like might be just a new hood and grill, maybe front bumper assuming nothing behind it sustained major damage. Can't think of really anything to worry about. Mostly a fender bender from the looks of it. Curious about what happened. Did somebody back into you or did you rear end them? If the latter, did emergency braking not kick in, or did it and did its job of minimizing damage? No guarantee it can bring the car to a full stop in time, but it aims to keep damage and injuries minimal in case of impact.

Yes, I rear ended.. Actually crossing a set of tracks down hill and she stopped fast. It was slow but I skipped on the tracks. I had the pedal mashed but with the car skipping on the tracks and downhill, not much else I could do. I was under it and all the radiators etc. looked ok.

Make sure they don't respray the front bumper even if you have few blemishes. I would rather live with few imperfections than than a front bumper with not only a different shade of color but a different texture too

No matter what they tell you how good the color match be, I would not let them do the bumper

Looks like the front bumper is toast, couple big cracks on the left side. It would have to be new I think.

Well, the bill (so far) is in... 27K in damages and they haven't even started disassembly yet. They are telling me its likely going to be totaled.

I am so sad right now. I really really loved that car.

Did they just give you a number, or a detailed list? There might be things that could be changed, maybe repaired versus replaced for cheaper. Good luck!

That's exactly what just happened to mine. First they said $11k, then $25k then $35K and they totaled my 2018 S63. I was so bummed. Can't find a replacement, 3 mos later, that is nice enough to buy, I will probably have to order a new one. So upset about this. Can't find one with Burmeister, carbon ceramic brakes, rear heating/cooling temp controls, not black or white, must have black interior, carbon ceramic interior trim, and only an all leather steering wheel. Turns out this is too tall an order to find in a used one. The new one is $223740 without the rear tablets on the seat backs and another $7500 or so if we get them and that package. Yikes. Plus tax. Plus PPF. Plus 10 year warranty like I had before.

Sorry for your loss.

I spoke at length with my Farmers agent and he detailed the damages as we talked. He was, I felt, quite shocked by repair on these. How much each item costs. I just did a search for a replacement on Mercedes and Car Gurus. Not a hopeful person at this point. I definitely feel you on your note. I know it is going to go higher as they pull parts out and find more.

Just over the phone on the parts so far, and the cost of the replacements. Head light units both sides are 6K alone. Both are cracked so they are junk. It was a long list from a minor 10 MPH crash, but I guess it was all about angle lol.

Wow! 2 headlight replacements automatically make this an expensive repair. I didn't see that from your picture, but it makes sense. Post like yours, and Steve, and Vanquish make me afraid to drive my car

Yeah, things can quickly start to add up on modern cars. Hard to see all the damage from a picture, but I do see now at least looking from the front, the left headlight seems out of place. There are sensors and stuff in the front, although, they shouldn't be that expensive to replace. Keep plenty of distance at all times, especially going downhill. The heavier the car, the more momentum you are dealing with.

Not to mention even if they repaired and didn't total - the value of the car took a dive with this collision - you're hosed either way.

if they total it I hope you get good value; sorry this happened to you, have been here before

what's it worth in excellent condition with your options and mileage?

I ran Carvana on it immediately after hearing the word total. They would buy it for 40K so figure 50K on the market?

Well they officially totaled the car. Repair shop is astounded they are going to total over that but numbers are what they are I guess.

Good bye to my ride :-(

Sorry to hear, same exact thing just happened to me 3 mos ago. I was floored... looking for a 2019 or 2020 to replace it, with the same options, can't find one. May have to get a new one but they lose so much in depreciation in 3 years it's crazy. What are you thinking to get next?

Unfortunately wont be a S63. I only bought that one because it was likely the best maintained ride I had ever seen. A dealer near me has a 2021 E53 AMG with only 21K on it CPO that I will likely pick up today.
