Please listen to this sound and help me diagnose!
I have a somewhat new to me s63 and I have been trying to find this sound and cant seem to figure out what it is.. it sounds like it is coming from the passenger side timing cover area but hard to tell.
listen after she revs a couple of times. It is like a whining noise here something is still spinning. Thank you for any help you can give.

If that sound has been there all along I wouldn't overly worry that much. But if it has just started or been building over time. Whining sounds can be anything from bearings starting to degrade, maybe a part of the turbo function is starting to degrade. Im unfamiliar with Mercedes motors. But prior experience has taught that sometimes parts degrade over time. Take it to your mechanic and have him hook it up to a scanner. Or perhaps its like the prior reply. Its sounds great.

OP the whine could very easily be an A/C compressor, alternator or any of the bearings in accessory drive. Long screwdriver as it idles. Touch where the bearing mounts to the engine and ear to end of screwdriver.... you will easily hear one that is dying..

Not talking about the ticking. That is normal. Its the whine as the engine goes back to idle. I swear it is the timing chain rubbing on the plastic guide but who knows.
