new to me 2015 S63 *help also needed*

Hey everyone! I just got myself a 2015 S63, and I’m excited to join the community. I’ve been browsing the forums and the web to learn more, but honestly, it’s a bit overwhelming at first. I did manage to get an Xentry passthrough that im running through a virtual machin and I’ve been lurking around it to understand how everything works.

I absolutely love the car and it’s been fantastic so far. It does need some TLC, which I’m gradually working on. I do have a question and would really appreciate any advice or feedback.

The issue is with the 360 camera system. The left sideview mirror camera shows “no signal” and displays a camera icon with an X over it. I tried swapping the camera out, but still no image. Interestingly, when I connected the same camera to the right sideview mirror, it worked fine.

Could this be a configuration issue that I need to address via Xentry? Or might it be a problem with the main control module? I’ve also heard there could be another module in the door panel involved. I’m not entirely sure where to start troubleshooting, so any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Additionally, I’m interested in setting up my own Xentry kit. I was thinking about what hardware I’d need. I have a few spare laptops where I can install an SSD with Xentry on them, but what other hardware components would be necessary to get everything up and running smoothly?

Thanks in advance for your help, and I look forward to learning more from all of you!

In addition to the laptop you'll need one of these:https://www.ebay.com/itm/15707139793...d48747c6d56d2c.
You can also reach out to BenzNinja and he can set you up with all you'll need.

That is the best advice you're going to get on this site.

Totally agree that you should get in touch with Peter and he will provide you with not only the hardware and software, but he will share his massive amount of knowledge he has gained over time in diagnosing/troubleshooting problems. Sounds like you are willing to take on the maintenance and repair of your MB so Xentry is a must. Once you join the club, you will have access to all the tools needed to care for your ride. I'm a member and very happy with the results I have been able to achieve with the help of BenzNinja to make mods and fix issues.

I just finished a repair to my rear view camera. Used the BenzNinja setup and Xentry to diagnose/test/repair the problem. Did it myself without asking for Peter to step in and assist.
I had the same loss of signal whenever I put it in reverse or used the 360 cameras but it turned out to be the door mechanism that had issues instead of the actual camera. Plastic gears and sliding parts had a bit of a hiccup and not closing properly. $160 replacement assembly and I'm back in good shape. Reset all codes with Xentry and all is good. Probably would have cost me $1000 and loss of car for days to get this work completed at the stealership. Justification for joining the BenzNinja club and providing my own service needs.

I would recommend looking at the front SAM as a possible point to look at for diagnosing your camera issue. It sounds like a controller as you have proved it is not the camera itself. Hopefully it's not a problem with the Comand unit where all the video signals terminate. Good luck.

Thank you for the great info! I am hoping its not the main module. Im even having a hard time finding out where that module is even mounted. I think its either in the left side of trunk or under one of the front seats! and when you say controller do you mean the module thats in the door panel? do you know if swapping the door panel or camera will require a callibration with xentry?

Not sure about the layout of your specific model but what I have reviewed is the path for the video signal runs through the SAM units prior to ending up at the main COMAND control unit.

I do know that if you replace a camera, it will need to be calibrated and there is a procedure in Xentry to initiate that process.

Thats what I was worried about. I do have an extra camera but when i installed it it never worked. I may just have to get a xentry set up before digging deeper into the camera issue. I just cant remember now if i tested the replacement camera or the oem one at the other mirror. cause it did work when i swapped. Il have to try again.
