That's horrible.

Glad your friend is okay. How bad was the damage in the Land Cruiser?

Ouch.... looks like the car held up well, against the heavy SUV Land Cruiser.

Looks like it is still drivable!

Yeah, how bad was the Land Cruiser damages?

The S-Calss damages costs about 90,000 SAR wich equals 24,000 $

According to my friend, the Land Cruiser's damages wasn't very bad if you compared it with his S-Class,he said that the Land Cruiser was able to go back home only with a damaged rear bumper from the right side,a broken tail light and some mild damages on the rear right side of the vehicle.

I don't care what anyone thinks of Toyota...the Land Cruiser is a tried and true rugged truck.

I'll take the S class of your friend's hands...

My mother had a similar accident with her S Class but it was hit on the same side but in the rear. The damage totalled around 48k from what I was told ! Insurence did not want to total the car for what ever reason? thank god it was a lease and it not so bad except the rim was turned 90 degrees the car was out for months!

I agree. My parents used to have a land Cruiser. That truck was rock solid. Not 1 problem with it.

Sorry to hear about the S.

That's horrible, glad to hear that he's alright.

Did the airbags properly deploy? Yeah, that looks like a lot of new damage. In perspective, the front bumper that needs to be replaced in the U.S. costs $3,500 (just for the cover, not the fog lights/reinforcement, etc.) -- as you can see, the costs easily add up.

maybe you guys should think about energy absorption....that S- class absorbed all the damage instead of transferring it to its occupants. Sometimes when a car/truck doesnt show much damage it is because it didnt give at all. That isnt always a good thing....remember Dale Earnhardt?

The Landcruiser is a body on frame vehicle and probably the strongest Toyota on the road. It is a Japanese Tahoe.

My wife hit a Jetta in her half-ton Suburban some years ago. Zero mechanical damage. Body repair bill $3,000. The Jetta was totalled.

You mean a Tahoe is GM's attempt at a Land Cruiser?

Land Cruisers have practically been everywhere 4-wheel vehicles have been ... and were going there before "offroading" (surely a word coined in a part of the world where there were roads to begin with) ever became fashionable.

Cheers

Tahoes and Suburbans were there first

The Suburban which is a long wheel base Tahoe had been built since the days of WWII. They are nearly as old as the Beetle if not older. I understand the Toyota Landcruisers have been around for a long time too sold mainly in Black Africa. These were almost exclusively diesels with zero comfort and were cheap in every sense of the word. Like the early Beetles, they were meant to be appliances for the poor.

The Suburbans and Landcruisers (aka Lexuses) are totally different cars nowadays. They are built for rich Americans and oil shieks.

If you don't know the history, please do not pollute MBW with your ignorant and elitist attitude.

A Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon can't go off road to anywhere near the level of a Landcruiser or LX.
