Wife's E500 in a head on at 50+mph
I don't have pics but will tomorrow. The good news is the car performed perfectly absobing the brunt of the impact, both front bags deployed (she had a friend in the front seat with her) and they both walked away with minor injuries. Both are fine, sore obvioulsy but I cannot tell you how impressed with this car we are. After she calmed down the first thing she said is that she wanted another one (referring to the E-class).
The tele-aid people were on the phone talking to my wife and dispatching emergency services instantly, they kept her talking and helped her to regain her focus after such a violent impact.
You can ***** all you want about broken window regulators and whatnot but I have my checkbook out and we will gladly buy another car to replace this one. Kudos Mercedes, you are forever off of my griping list.
The accident was cuased by a gentleman in a toyota pickup who lost control and was struck broadside by wife as he crossed her lane perpendicular to the direction of travel. He was hurt as well but escaped serious injury.
Rough day. I'll post pics tomorrow.
Thank you Jesus and God Bless Mercedes-Benz!

Whichever one is available (1 of 5)
Same thing happened to me. I tail-ended an SUV last year with my 1989 420SEL, totalled my car, air bags deployed, I was slightly chemical burnt on both arms, but otherwise OK. I just purchased new 2004 E500 last week. MB all the way !!!

I'm sorry to hear about the incident! I'm glad your wife, her friend, along with the man in the Toyota are all OK.
Drive safely, everyone.

Since 04E500's wife and her friend are thankfully unhurt, I hope I can admit to being anxious to see the pictures without seeming ghoulish. My excuse, such as it is, is that my wife was in a very similar accident (although at a lower speed) last year in our '97 BMW 5-series. The BMW also did what it was supposed to do - it gave its life to protect hers. The car was shortened by about two feet, none of it behind the front wheels. Since buying a new 5-series wasn't an option, we got an E instead, in the hope that it would perform at least as well if, heaven forbid, she or I got in another accident. It's good to hear that our trust in Mercedes safety is justified.

Wow, what a great story. Really glad to hear that your wife and her passenger are okay, but even more importantly that the other guy is still alive. I would expect nothing less of a Mercedes but the guy in the Toyota should really be counting his blessings 7-fold.

Moved? This is the first time I've seen a moderator in this forum actually move a thread upon a judgment that it belonged elsewhere. I don't want to argue with a moderator's judgment - it's a losing game - but this thread wasn't really about M-B safety in general; it was about how a W211, specifically, performed in a crash. Apparently there's a newly-enforced rule that anything safety-related has to be collected in this section.

I have been through a major car accident (2 operations). Since then, I only drive BMW or MB. Not MB is great car, but I know it is a safest car you can find on the street.
Thx to MB's newly design on exterior and interior, I walk away from BMW after continue 12years of BMW experience. (The new 5 ....nevermind)
Glad everything is ok with your family.

I'm really glad that your wife and her friend are okay! A car can always be replace, but not their lives. Another reason, why I love MB. Best wishes on getting a new E-Class.
