Once I got the car at my dealer I found it repaired to perfection.... but I got rid of it after 6 months.... wonder if your car needed repairs at VPC before shipment to your dealer.
that's what I'm afraid of... some kind of damage during transport.
I've done a few BMW and MB EDs before and thank God all of them went without any trouble.
This one is total mystery. Their current claim of software update is pretty weak. I don't totally buy it....

Could be software

Reason it could be a software problem is because on Saturday 4/3/21 I had to be at a business bid opening. I put in the valid address in Illinois and asked “Hey Mercedes” to have NAV take me there.
the NAV took me to a residential neighborhood that was wrong. I entered address again and it failed again. Had to rely on WAZE to get me late to bid opening.
I reported the faulty NAV to MB-USA -Atlanta Dimitris CEO. Have not heard back from them yet.

A breaking news....

Finally my GT is released to transport.

So, here's what I found out about why the damn thing was stuck at VPC for over a month.
"Software update required"
Apparently, while the vehicle was on the vessel, the factory released a bug-fix/update regarding transmission control & hybrid motor control.
the easy logic would respond to that with "flashing software update doesn't take more than a few hours at worst"...
Apparently VPC would disagree. They take over a month to do that.

My dealer's service manager said that they had that update since a month ago and they could have knocked it out in 10-20 minutes.
However, MBUSA can not release the vehicle out of their custody without any software bugs in em due to liability issue.

I understand that there are processes... but this whole drama has been pretty retarded.
Literally the car came through at the last minute. I had a full plan to call the dealership and notify that I'm walking away from the deal and was going to go with some other car tomorrow.

....now waiting for the transport truck to do their job to bring the car from Baltimore VPC to Bethesda Maryland.

A-Men.... Your prayers have been answered

Fortunate your car is all built and not awaiting computer chips.
my car goes to dealer Monday for software update and update on faulty NAV directions.
I used up my FREE 1GB of ATT WiFi hotspot in my car.... in 1st week. ATT now pestering me to pay them $200/ year to continue with WiFi in the car.
you should now push your dealer to add a little extra to your deal for all the commotion they have put you through.... if your dealer valued your good word of mouth to friends they would comp you on tire protection pkg or Expel protection on your car

I've gone and extended my outgoing S560 lease for two months while waiting for the GT to arrive.
the dealership offered to re-imburse me for those two lease payments I made.
Not sure if they would put any more considerations into the discount. GTs in DC metro areas sell pretty quickly and they are not too motivated to incentivize the sell.
I was gonna ask for some incentives on maintenance services or tire/wheel protection stuff.

now that the deal is almost home, it's extra agonizing to wait for the transport truck to get to work.
VPC cleared on Wednesday. and it still hasn't gotten picked up yet. once the transport truck picks her up, Baltimore is literally 30-40 minute drive...
c'mon~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I'll keep you posted.

Enjoy “The Dance” and anticipation of your car soon to arrive

Since I left aviation 8 years ago and sold the turboprop and got back into cars, I have loved “The Dance” even more... from shopping to ordering to awaiting delivery thru 5 Euro Deliveries....
this AMG GT 63S wait of 23 weeks was worth it... I’m loving the car. Declined the Ceramic Pro treatment because I love to wax using Rain-X Liquid Wax... wipe on-wipe off like doing Asian Tai Chi exercise. Tomorrow Saturday I have a 90 minute drive for early breakfast mtg... the client thinks I’m coming to see him but it really is the drive to try out my newly arrived Valentine RD

Put in an order for one today. Ordered says “2021 gt63s” and I haven’t gotten any build date yet. My guess would be around October so wouldn’t that make it a, “2022 gt6s?” If so, does anyone know what are the changes for 2022 versus 2021? It’d be nice to be able to get the dual glass sunroof with the upgrade Burmeister

Everything moving to EV

Daimler is hell bent for everything to be EV and doing away with ICE.. but they would be fools to do away with the AMG GT 63S for 2022

I'm guessing we will see the 2022 DOG in a month or so.

Daimler is hell bent because the governments of the world have decided ICE cars are a bad thing and are busy banning them.
Enjoy them while you can.
