Ordering GT63 (Trying to)

I'm not usually a MB or AMG guy but I was entranced with the GT53/GT63 performance. I decided to put a deposit and secure a build. So far have only been able to secure an order for a 2023 GT53. A few questions for this forum:

1. How do you feel about Selenite Grey Magno (too common/boring)?
2. Does anyone have Macciato Beige interior? How does it hold up?
3. When does the US open for GT63 orders?
4. How do you feel the handling of the GT compares with GT coupe, 911?

In the US most V8 have been on hiatus due to an undisclosed quality issue. No word yet on if and when they are coming back. The GT63 has been discontinued, though with the FL, so it won't be coming back. It has been replaced with the GT63 S E PERFORMANCE which is already on sale in Europe as the sole 63 model. Also no word yet on if and when it's coming here.

Super interesting about the GT63. I guess we'll need to wait for the SE. How did you get your information re: quality issues on the V8? Wouldn't that also apply to the SE model? Again, super interesting info. Thank you.

Selenite grey isnt much of a common color on Gts let alone the Magno.

My dealership told me the 63 is discontinued due to chip shortages the next 2 years and will be replaced by the SE.

It made the automotive news last fall. Except for the S Class, all V8 were cancelled for 2022. First they blamed chip shortages, then they said it was a quality issue, but no details. If you google it you can probably find the interview with the head of AMG. My guess has been that they had to make emissions related changes to the engines and it resulted in less power or unsatisfactory reliability with the lower octane gas we have here in the US (91 US is only mid grade in Europe). There are some initial signs that things are coming back. The new SL 63 should go on sale here soon and the GLE 63 can be ordered again as far as I know, but no word on the other models yet.

There is a DOG for the GT63 and a press release from MBUSA about it coming back to dealers by EOY for a ‘23 MY. My dealer placed an order for me but no allocations have been released (or pricing) so it’s more of a placeholder for the moment. But it is an order in NetStar for a 2023 GT63C4 (he sent me a screen shot of it). But I want a GT63S - that isn’t available in NetStar yet.

This is correct.

They were, in fact, discontinued for the 22' MY by they have been brought back for a 23' run.

You can definitely put your name down with a dealer - some of them have a more half-baked configuration tool they can run your through and mess around with. But as far as associating yourself with an allocation, that'll have to wait a bit.

Has anyone heard of any updates yet in regards to the GT63S yet?

Im curious to hear from the community if anyone is predicting a ballpack date where we may see the official announcement that sales are open and ready for orders.
Im new to the MB family myself, typically when do pre-orders begin for the following year?

I know the article said "later this year" but Im just curious to previous patterns.

Thoughts?

You're looking at probably having your allocation around June or July, and getting your configuration done then. Once your finished, you're looking at probably getting your car around early-late November

Looks like people are asking for 50K over MSRP. I'm back to hunting but it's good to see allocations coming out and getting traction in the ordering process.

Hey, I actually just put in an order for a 2023 GT63 on 11/12/22 set to build in March of 23 and deliver in May of 23. When are you due to receive your 53?

My 63s has a production date of 11/30 and assuming it does not slip, should see the car by early January.
