Hi guys

So I was ordering a bodykit to do The complete facelift, just to find out that apparently when facelifting The front bumper, I also need to facelift my grill.
But The issue is my car have distronic+ and therefore 8 black fields.
I have been searching all over the Internet, but can't find a place that sells a facelift grill with 8 black fields

Do any of you know of a place that does, or have other solution? Can't be the only one with a s500 w221 equipped with distronic+ doing the facelift

Thanks, but the one at the link is only for distronic, not distronic plus - also it directly says it does not fit my 2009 model :-(

If you are doing a facelift than you are making it appear to be 2010-2013. So it is saying it doesn't fit your 2009 model because it doesn't know your doing a facelift.

Haha! You are right... Makes sense..!

However, my problem still is that this grill does not fit Distronic Plus, only the normal Distronic :-(

There are only 2 grille types. Those with Distronic Plus, and those without it. The Distronic Plus grilles will have the plastic shield built into the grille. Cars without it just have the regular bars.

Ah ok I see you have distronic + we only have the standard W221 Grill with standard distronic (4 black fields in the grill) you have (8 black fields)

We can’t order the right grill for your car unfortunately. So I can make you only an offer for the Bodykit, rearlights and rearexhaust dazzle.

I don't know who you're ordering from, but I can certainly tell you that there is only Distronic Plus. But there are differences in grilles depending on the car. For instance, the S63, S600, and S550 (that have Distronic Plus) have the grille with 3 single bars with the shield covering the bottom bars. The S65's have the 3 duo bars grilles with the shield covering the 2 lower duo bars. Either grille should work on a 2007-2009 car with a face-lifted front bumper. It just depends on whether your prefer the S63 or S65 style.

So I have can choose both, without any problems, and the seller is just confused?

The S65 grille in the photos is the one that comes with most of the AMG facelift kits that are sold by multiple vendors. I haven't heard of anybody complaining that those grilles don't work on their Distronic Plus cars.

It would be best to direct your question to Gary@suvneer who is a vendor on this board. He sells the full body kit.

Ok great, maybe the seller didn't know what he was talking about then :o)

As far as I know Gary is placed in the US, shipping cost and import charges, would make it better to buy from some german vendor instead, even though I would like to support a member of the board

Do you know why mine has 8 black fields, when all others is supposed to have maximum 6?

My stock grille is exactly the same as yours. Perhaps MB was overly cautious with the shield on the earlier cars.

Remember, most (all?) of us found that aftermarket grills do NOT work! Only genuine MB ones do.

I see what you mean.. The seller wrote following:

"For W221 you need to change the grille, but our grille might not work on distronic (at some of our customer has worked without any problem). If it does not work you can take the distronic platte from your grille and fit it on our grille."

Sounds like a solution?

Yes but where are you going to get a genuine S65 distronic plate? You need to buy the genuine S65 grille

Your own grille has 8 black fields and also has a different shape.

Is it correct understood that the plate is only to secure the distronic from damages? In that case I think some glue, could help maybe..
