Upgrading ipod kit
I recently got a 2008 e350 with the sports package nav package and ipod kit and i was wondering what i could do to either get an aux cord to work or upgrade the cord to a lightning cable

I also just got a 2008 E320 Bluetec with iPod kit and yesterday bought 30 pin to 8 pin lightning converter adapter from eBay vendor to try out iPhone 5S for music playback.
For $3.49 it's worth a try.
If it works good I will probably buy a used iPod and leave it plugged in permanently.

Have you been able to play music from your phone with the adapter

The adapter arrived and I was not able to get iPhone 5S to work with the adapter!
(5S does connect to the cars MB Bluetooth cradle adapter and works fine as a hands free phone, but no music either way)
According to the operator's manual that came with "iPod integration kit" it will work with iPod Generation 3, 4 and 5, iPod nano etc., but no iPod Touch is listed!
I suppose my next step is to buy Classic iPod 4 or 5 (non touch)

I had a 2007 E350 sport. I found out after trying a few cables that the iPod/iPhone wouldn't work without the multimedia package. My 2014 has the multimedia package. I have my iPhone set up with bluetooth, and my iPod is using the usb to 30? pin connector that came with the car. If you have the data card for your vehicle see if it has the package. My 2014 sales code was 518, universal Communications interface.

Bluetooth 30 Pin
I bought a 30 pin Bluetooth tongle and attached it in the glove box. It allows me to sync my iPhone and use the AUX to listen to music. Sound is perfect. The company I bought it from was a Mercedes parts site that is now out of business because the owner died and no one to inherit. I am willing to sell it because I am selling my 08 to buy something newer.

I checked the data card for my car and there is no mentioning of multimedia or code 518 or universal Communications interface.
However the car has Mercedes "iPod Integration Kit" which was likely installed by a dealer in Seattle.
The MB manual for the kit is listing iPod 3, 4 and 5 (classic) as compatible players.

I have tested it now and the iPod 5 classic is working fine with the M-B "iPod Integration Kit"
