Need Advice 19's On 4Matic

Ever since i installed my 19's on my car all rims same size and tires i get this thump in the rear were the last 2 feet before coming to a stop it thumps or clicks. Goes away after 20-25 minutes of driving. Also when i tap the gas hard at slow speeds it will thump or click kinda like you have a broken tranny mount. I can launch the car hard from a stop and nothing. Noticed this right after i installed my new rims. Not getting why it does this simce i figured if all the wheels have same diameter i should be fine.

Guess it is a matter of preferenece, but I personally would never install 19's due to ride quality, especially on a 4Matic.

I had a similar issue years ago with a 5 series BMW. The issue went away after the dealer installed/loaded a software upgrade on the vehicle.

Your rims may be a bit too large, as a bigger rims is more mass that needs to be moved which could cause the car to react accordingly.

If you still have the original wheels, I would simply install those to see if the issue goes away. It is still exists, you may have a tranny issue.

Good luck.

I have a set of 19s that came with my e500 wagon that I was planning on putting on in the next few months (8.5" width on the front, 9.5" width on the back). Didn't really think there would be any issues. Interested to see more feedback on this.

I have been told that on an all wheel drive system, (AUDI Quattro, MERCEDES 4Matic, BMW X-Drive) to have all four (4) wheels and tires to be identical.
I was also told in the past from a reliable source (My father was Audi Quattro Assembly Line Manager in Germany for 32 years), that one should NOT replace a single tire if the remaining three (3) tires have not a lot of tread left, as the new installed tire with a new tread pattern will slightly raise that particular corner of the vehicle, which could cause issues on the all-wheel drive system.

Thank you for your replies guys. I always thought as long as they are all the same diameter meanig i had 18's before same size tires now i have 19's all the same diameter with tires i should be fine but i noticed right after the install the conditions stated at the top.

Got to concur with that statement. Purchased one new tire to match other three, next upon inspection which passed, but couple of months later when the car was getting C service
i wanted to get wheels rotated. My indie was like not needed due to new tire has more tread and would mess with 4matic system. Saved my some moolah baby!

So having 19x9.5" on the back and 19x8.5" on the front, same diameter, would cause problems with the 4Matic?

It is not the rims that will cost the problem, but tires with different rpms.
MB never made it official, but rule of thumb says the system will accept 3% difference.
Choose the tire brand you want to consider and go on their side pulling rpms for the sizes you want.
Those cars ride on donut spares just fine, so it is not rocket science.

As Promised

here are the new rims and tires. I know there not as good as the old ones but my problem were it would click right before stopping went away. Now i got my ESP light on lol. Not sure how to reset it happened after 2 miles of driving after putting new rims on. On the last pic looks like chrome peeling above the blacked out signal its not just a reflection from the fence across the street lol. I say that because most whove seen the pic mentions it. My stock center caps would not fit there too big need something smaller in diameter stockers are 75mm maybe 65-70mm not sure

Well, is the "click" gone?

I am sorry, but I am not diggin your blacked out look, rims, grill or emblems, I never like black wheels on any vehicle, but to each their own.
