Just ordered my valve body.. $700 after discount and will be here tomorrow. He was telling me on the newer cars they can't sell the valve body's to customers.. there is a $5,000 fine if they do! That's crap!
The newer valve body has the integrated TCM, on our old 722.6 it's outside the transmission. The newer ones it's VIN locked, so it's a theft-relevant-part, has to have special paperwork filled out, repair order open, etc. Just like ordering a key, only more of a PITA since the dealership has to install.
I have been turning my attention towards the S65. Just replaced the flex disc and center support. I noticed these weight placed on the center carriers. Has anyone else seen that? Pretty odd. The s600 front accumaltor popped sitting at a rest stop on 95. Burped a bit of the resvoir. I just replaced the rear accumulators and I presume the extra pressure in the system popped the front!

Ahhh.. okay now that makes sense! Stupid.. but makes sense.. there's a 5k fine to the dealer if they sell one of those newer bodies to someone they aren't supposed to.. no wonder

It's not for the valve body, it's for any TRP part. ECU, TCU, ISM, EIS, Key, etc.
Yeah I understand now but that's kind of bull to put that with the valve body.. another way to take more money! That piece doesn't rotate so someone stuck weights there to use to balance the shaft and forgot them there..?
Well I just got the valve body from Mercedes. Paid $710, list was $971.. they aren't new though they are remanufactured.. new is $2200.. they come with new conductor plates and solenoids so that's nice but now I have a brand new genuine MB conductor plate I just bought I don't need.. anyone want a new conductor plate for $75?
Took 3 and 1/2 quarts after removing the valve body. You got me all worried By the 5-6 quarts.
We just put mine in now and it required doing the adaptations.. it would search for third without it.. but mine took 5 and a half quarts, so you may want to check yours again! We checked it with the dipstick over and over.
Weird my level is spot on and my car required no adapation. my mechanic shop also verified the level is roght. Does you dipstick tap the bottom of the pan
Nice. Always impressed at the mileage I get after a nice run at 80+. I've averaged numbers just like yours anywhere from 70-100, the car is just at a nice low rpm and doesn't' seem to care if you bump it up 20mph, which is awesome. Incredible highway car.
Well it was shifting funny long story short MB sent me the wrong valve body! They sent me the one for 04 and below!! Long story short MB has the car and I'm in their loaner and they have to eat the job and redo it!
Well the dealer called me today to say they are very sorry but it was the 04 and earlier valve body and not the after 04 body so they ordered the right one and will be done early tomorrow. The plus side? Another tranny fluid flush on the house so that's another 6 quarts! Good thing I noticed the delay in shifting from park to drive or reverse because other than that it just shifted a little weird but otherwise normal..
That shifting delay is usually in the conductor plate. I had that issue on my car until I did the trans service. After the new plate and service the garage shifts are normal, not delayed.

Well maybe the new conductor plate was defective? Anyway I got the car back today from MB with a new valve body, conductor plate, solenoids, and they replaced the brand new filter and gasket (they lasted about 30 miles, lol!) and 5 more quarts of fluid! The tranny now shifts like BRAND NEW!! Amazing what a difference! When I started reading about how these valve bodies have an issue with the valves wearing and they start losing pressure on all the circuits I knew I was going the way G60 did.. they also replaced a couple seals the invoice shows, so I'm not sure what those were but MB ate about $1500 on this screw up! Anyway I now have a tranny with almost a full flush and the best part? The tranny now has a two year warranty from MB! The service manager said I am so sorry for the trouble but at least you have peace of mind with the warranty.
