Hey guys,
i am very new to the m276 engine...that being said I have started to hear a constant buzzing sound when I drive the car coming from the engine. I do have very distinct hearing (former Morse code operator) but I've asked others and they hear it too. Is this a thing amongst the DI engine? Is it normal? No codes at all vehicle is a 2015 with 51k miles (just over warranty so I don't want to take it in) I tried a search and couldn't really find anything
also the vents will randomly tick. Not constant and not the same one, each one will just randomly tick and I get maybe one tick every several seconds
thanks guys and gals!

Dealer service manager said it was definitely poor fuel...the previous owner(female in her early 30s) admitted to using both cheap and premium gas because her mechanic said it was ok...I'm going to run out the gas in it out some fuel system cleaner and fill it up. Also going to do an oil change. Hope this helps it

Hi there, my 2013 GLK350 with the same engine also has that ticking noise. It's a very similar sound. The mechanic said it's because of the lifters. No big concern. My vents also has a tick sound from time to time.
It's much better after I bought these. They are attached to the vent and help to make it more snug so that it doesnt move around as you drive.

Good luck!

I can't access the video.
Direct injection is more noisy. Is it a new noise? Alcohol will help a batch of bad gas , it absorbes water and raises the octane. products like Heat are alcohol and sold at most gas stations, for bad gas you might need 3-5 cans of it.
A mechanic said it's bad gas? And what if it doesn't change with good gas?
Does it sound the same idling and accelerating?

thanks for the replies,
The service manager said it can get better over time, but due to the amunt of miles (51k) he recommenced I do an oil change (which im going to do anyway) and throw in some fuel system cleaner in it and fill with premium...hope this will help it. I will keep everyone posted, will do by the end of the week

Took the car to the dealer for the noise again, and to get an oil change. Tech said that there is a buzzing noise that is likely coming from the high pressure fuel pump-1400 estimate for the fix. I called MBUSA and a case manager is going to call me back to see if they will be able to help me out as I'm at 51.5k miles. Will keep everyone posted. Does anyone know where the fuel filter and the fuel pump is located on this car? I've looked online and didn't find a definite answer, I'm assuming it's inside the fuel tank? Anyone have a diagram or DIY or anything related? I figure I'll change out the filter and pump regardless. Thanks for the help

I am also just for preventative maintenance doing a coolant flush, air filter, and fuel filter (mainly because previous owner ran 87)
Still waiting for the fuel pump issue with MBUSA...it's only a slight buzzing sound but I just hate noises, it doesn't bother my gf at all she can't even hear it

The other blog had someone digging into the tank for the filter. It's under the back seat under one of the two access plates for the tank. He posted a bunch of PDF's that impressed me with the complexity but it didn't seem impossible. I sure would rule out other things first though.

Ordered all the parts along with some oem running boards...going to do it all this sunday with the help of a forum member on here. He has his own shop in Maryland and does great work.
MBUSA offered me 15% off the fuel pump...in going to have my guy diagnose it further and if it just the sound I'll deal with it for now, not worth paying 1000$ for some noise. I will keep everyone updated

Ended up doing the fuel filter, coolant flush, and engine air filter (omg that air filter was disgusting)
im now getting over 24 mpg averaging 31mph mixed city and highway
the eco mode actually engages now!!!
car sounds about the same maybe a little quieter, it is definitely coming from the injectors though and don't think any issue with the high pressure fuel pump.
