They are cheap made in China speakers in these cars. I have installed a few of them.

Has anyone considered swapping out the speakers for different ones?

If so, can you please advise best brand/speakers used.

Thanks!

You should check out this guy's "how to" article: https://w205audio.wordpress.com/

He seems to take a very scientific approach to it. He doesn't make changes based on gut feel, he takes a lot of measurements. Very impressive. He's also the one I referred to earlier who pointed out that there's no real Burmester components.

Wow, this person has really taken the time to analyse everything. My question is would the AMG models also have the same speakers as a C300?

Instead of tearing the whole system apart and spending $$$$, has anyone actually just tuned the equalizer using a real time analyzer (RTA)? I think this would be the best way to get the best sound out of the stock speakers.

If you've messed with the settings moderately and it doesn't sound "really good" to your ear, its never going to sound "great."

2015 C300 4matic
I drive a 2015 C300 4matic Sport and the Burmester system is good but not great. I was coming from a 2012 Infiniti G37xS with Bose which was also a good system for the money. My dad drives a 2013 C300 with the HK sound system and I personally think it sounds better which is a major disappointment.

Seriously this was helpless speaker ranting.
The woofers have inadequate inpute,
Quaternary crossovers and there are zero sub woofers. The much taunted failed under powered non existence subwoofer doesn't exist. What a waste of wire.
What triple circuit amplifier with dedicated subwoofer circuit will turn this manatee inti a mermaid.?

myself coming from building showcars and custom sound systems to the AMG life.... i literally only turn on music when the wife is with me. and then its on low. otherwise i have it off and listen to crackles and pops and wheel spin.... thats just me tho.

the stock Burmester system in comparison to my old BMW's is pretty below par tho.

From factory the system is definately lacking bass as everyone is saying. Once adding an amp and a sub or two the system is a lot more enjoyable.

I know that JL Audio has some quality sub woofers and bass wedges similar to what you have shown. Nice set up.
What sort of amp are you using and are you including the 6" woofers in the circuit?
I don't have the expertise to re do the entire equalizer for the system.

Amp is an Alpine 1000w mono block that I had laying around in the garage from an old setup.

Not to sure exactly how this is setup but amp and subs are added to the system with floor woofers left to run off factory amp.

No changes have been made to the factory speakers.

Ive turned down the bass on the factory settings to zero leaving the bass to come from the twin JL Audio 13.5" subs.

A sub controller has been added so bass can be turned up and down from the drivers seat.

A sub or two makes a world of difference.

I am in the category of some of the others, with high end audio in most of my cars. No contest with replacing better sound processing, better amps, better speakers. I typically use Focal Bereyllium / Utopia speakers, with good amps from Mosconi, JL, etc. No comparison on the quality, volume, and punch you get from these systems.

For my wife's C63S, I spent time analyzing the excellent write up above on the system. I also had a few lengthy road trips alone with the sedan, and really felt the overall sound was quite good, but seriously lacking the bump in the trunk to get things more balanced.

Here is the list of my components. Fairly simple to get a good signal from the factory system, good amplication, and a strong sub. I chose the JL 12W7 because I knew I would spend time in the car, and my desired bass level was much higher then my wife's. With the sub control knob in the center console, we can easily set the level to our desired listening level. You can go with a lower end sub, with a smaller box, and still get some good bass going.

I looked into JL Audio stealth boxes when designing my boot install but they didn't have anything for W205.

As a result I was referred to a guy that does the custom installs for the Alpine demo cars heat in Brisbane...

Everything was custom done and he did an awesome job in design to the extent that each quarter panel box is locked into place by the custom parcel shelf cover.

I've had this done for quite a while now and no rattles from the boot, its all tightly fitted, can't say the same for the actual build of the car though....Mercedes....AMG!!!

So if I a amp, a subwoofer in a box... what do i need to do to add a sub? What part to tap in? Any soldering needed?

Exactly! They make it sound so easy. Where are the connections to put woofers and subwoofer box onto sub amp circuit?
There is that "front bass" system but is that powered or passive?
Some dealers defer mods to Mercedes.
Any help in S Florida?

Follow the link in post #28 above. It's all explained:

"The Fix 82 converts the powered speaker level signal back down to low voltage (line level). It digitizes the signal, removes the factory equalization, time correction and VNC and outputs flat 2 channel stereo via a single fiber optic Toslink cable to the Prima."

I was thinking of the same thing about the "front bass" system. Supposedly, there are two woofers under the front dash that incorporate the structure of the car to enhance the sound. I guess this is just a gimmick?

2017 C63S Coupe, 2015 Range Rover Sport
I just went through the upgrade process of trying to get decent bass out of my 2017 C63S Coupe. We started with a similar approach as the blog mentioned through out this thread:

Audison Prima 8.9 DSP Amp OEM Integration Unit
12" JL Audio sub in trunk
Audison 540 Watt mono amp for the sub
Nothing else was touched

With the above we still could not get any bass. Long story short it turned out that there really isn't any bass signal coming out of the Burmester DSP so you have to "fake a bass". My wife's Ranger Rover Sport had the exact same issue. The solution:

http://www.audiocontrol.com/car-audi...ors/epicenter/

Night and day difference now!

I didn't need the Audiocontrol, and have great bass without...
