How is the Burmester sound system?
Looking at possibly getting into a C63S (sedan) when my M3 lease is up later this year. The stock HK system in the M3 was crap until I replaced all the speakers with BAVSound upgrades - now it sounds great.
How is the stock Burmester system? I'm no audiophile, but it has to sound good. I mostly listen to rock.
Thanks!

In the C63S Coupe I personally think the Burmester sound system is overrated. It's better than the HK from my 2009 C63 sedan by that system was very subpar sound quality wise. Then again I'm pretty picky and am comparing to the aftermarket amps/processor/sub we put into my wife's SUV. I'll probably end up adding the same type of setup to my C63S but if your not an audiophile the stock system will work out fine for you. Good luck on your car search - can't go wrong with any AMG :-)

I actually prefer the HK system from earlier Mercedes to the Burmester, which seems to have trouble with high pitched noises. I made a thread in the W205 regular sedan forum about my C300, which I picked up when they first came out in late 2014 - the speakers CONSTANTLY rattle - it's a well noted problem. Better in my C63S coupe, but still there - meanwhile, HK system in my G wagon is amazing

My wifes w204 with HK sounded a lot better than our BMW F30 335i's HK and our C63S's Burmister.
I added a couple of subs to the C63S to add some bass to the system.
Its ts much better now.

The one thing I have noticed with the Burmester is you really have to screw with the settings to get it to sound ok. I think I'm at 3/4/10 on the treble/mid/bass settings. Turning surround to "front" also made a big difference but really lessened the sound stage. If they would just allow more tuning to the settings it would probably be a great system. As for the prior HK systems they were a lot less finicky.

PM Mike5215 or check out his thread on this topic in the C Class forum or on his blog here https://w205audio.wordpress.com/
He is quite knowledgeable and has made some specific modifications to improve the system in his C Class.

One thing Mike5215 pointed out in his teardown of the audio system is that in the Mercedes C class, there are no actual Burmester audio components in the system. None. That was surprising to me!
