W211 Facelift Tail Lights and Headlights

I have a 2006 E350. I need to purchase new headlights as my old ones are all fogged out. Is it possible to put facelift headlights in it? Also, is it possible to put in facelift tail lights? Any advice is good advice. Thanks!!!

or u can use some sand paper with a spray and some polish to get rid of the oxidation which should cost u about $10-15 for all 3 supplies.

but face lifted headlights and tail lights look way better than 03-06 but would be a little expensive. It will prolly set you back about at least $400 for both pairs plus adding on the new HID set up you would install.

If you're willing to spend about 400-600 altogether, go for it. It will give the car a slight fresh look. If not, mine were foggy too and i used sand paper and used NU Finish polish after and they were clear, except one is still tad a bit yellowish. But i apply some oil, any type, or that polish and it shines till the dust sticks on and clean it again lol

Re: Facelift Lights

Yeah I already sanded them but now they are getting condensation on the inside. Are the facelift Headlights and Tail Lights not plug and go? Would I need a special kit to install them? I would just stick with the pre-facelift lights but the facelifted ones look so good

Does anyone know if these new headlight covers will fit the Pre-Facelift W211 Bi-Zenon headlight casings??

If so I'm going to go for a pair of these. I understand how to replace them just need to know if they'll fit.

i highly doubt there are any differences besides the bulbs that are used and believe the housing must be the same but i'm not totally sure. But it should be.They should be plug n play to my knowledge.

they are the same and the compatible list shows all 06-09 but it is same for all w211. the only change between pre and post face lift is the interior change as they added those chrome bars in front of signal bulb. the body is the same

Good to Know

That's good to know. I only have the hid's but that's good enough for me. I found some Led Facelifted tail lights that work on pre facelift models. I'm excited to see how it looks.

If you have factory HID's I don't think they are straight-up plug-and-play, as the connector plugs are different. I've read of people adapting the facelift lens and trim onto their original housings with minor modifications.

As for the taillights, I think there's 2 versions: some use standard incandescent bulbs and some use LEDs for the stop lights. I don't think they're interchangeable.

Yea i had doubts on that. For all fitments, it is the same but i guess the housing differs in that situation.

Thanks!

Here's a video showing internal parts swapping but also shows how to separate the lens from the casing. Nice little cardboard & heat gun oven the guy made. Just want to make sure you keep the casing oriented above the lens when the rubber is soft so it doesn't drip on the silver coating of the reflectors:

Instead of doing all that, i used the heat gun on small sections and used em muscles and flathead screwdriver to rip thru the glue lol yes, a little extra work but takes less time than using cardboard

Home Depot or other hardware store sell a paint can lid removal tool that you'll swear is made for the job if you get one. It's curved edge fits right into wedge between housing & lens & will cut through that butyl like butter. They're super cheap & some stores give them away when you buy a gallon of paint. The LED taillights will be plug & play but not sure about face-lift LED. There is a slight difference between facelift taillights & original in that face-lift combines turn signal & reverse light into one clear lens where original has 2 clear lens strips. I upgraded my taillights with original LEDs & think they look good. I was ready to get those clear lenses from China for my headlights too but was worried they were meant for facelift models only which I believe are not interchangeable with pre-facelift headlights fitment due to front bumper angles which are significantly different between original & facelift.

I would just like to update the thread. I ordered depo facelift led tail lights as well as a facelift third brake like. They are made to fit 03-06 cars. I will post pictures of how they look when I get them. I am also on the hunt for 18 inch sport wheels part number a2114015302 and a2114015402. I'm looking forward to seeing how they turn out!!

I swapped my tails with oem 2007 led ones, my car is 2003 led one, straight plug n play, but the housing and the bulb sockets have to be facelift ones.. can't use old bulbs with facelift tail housing.

For the front, this are plug n play with pre facelift with the facelift look, this are for factory xenon, he also sells for factory halogen ones.
