Can someone tell to me what exactly putting the car in dyno mode does? obviously I'm assuming it has to do with putting the car on a dyno, but I would like some more detail. I looked it up but couldnt find a good explanation.

If you don't know what I'm talking about. Im referring to the mode you can set the car to if you do the following:

- turn key to position one
- go to odometer screen on dash (using steering wheel buttons)
- hold down answer phone call button followed by holding down ok button (simultaneously)
- from there you click on the dyno button then click ok to enable/disable

So whats the difference between that and holding down the traction control button for 3 seconds? The power steering and ABS?

Even with Traction / Stability control off (holding button 3 seconds) it will turn back on if the car slides and you put your foot on the brake.

And yes, as you mentioned ABS & PS

So if the car slides it comes back on? Or with combination of slide/brake it comes back on? I've never noticed that while power sliding, seems pretty off to me haha

It was in one of those Benz educational videos on YT.

If the traction / stability is off, and you lose control, if you tap the brake it apparently activates the system again.

Dyno mode is only for use when your car is on a dynamometer machine. It automatically shuts off once it senses the front wheels moving, so you can't use it as an alternative "traction control off" mode.

In my ML63, i have used Dyno mode while driving to test it out.
It stayed on until i turned it off.
Hence how i know there is no power steering.

iirc, cir 15 is key position 1 and cir 30 is key position 2 or ignition on.

I know this is an old thread and the correct info is probably common knowledge at this point but... in my w204 dyno mode does NOT turn off the power steering, and dyno mode DOES stay on when driving, in fact, I have the option to keep dyno mode on vs. having it turn off automatically when the car is shut off. So when I turn off my car then come back and start it again it is already in dyno mode. I have the 4matic and thought when in dyno mode it would turn off the power to the front letting only the rear receive power but unfortunately that’s not the case.
So, in dyno mode it basically turns off all the braking assists and little to no more.
Edit: since I don’t have an AMG I will say this was done in a C300, not a C63, so in the C63 it may disable the power steering... but definitely not in non-AMG models.

Since this thread is old and got bumped and I saw this.... let me set it straight. Circuit 30 is constant power has nothing to do with ignition or key position, it is battery voltage and constant. You are referring to circuit 15 and circuit 15r for key positions. Although this isn't relevant to 99% of people on this forum.

If the car drove good prior to new tires than it's probably a tire issue. Tires dont change the alignment or suspension. Given the model common issues on that truck are front upper control arm bushings, lower control arm bushings. They have adjustment bolt kits for the front suspension so getting it to drive well should be easy for any competent shop. Depending on the year of your truck I've seen 164 chassis need steering rack bushings but that is very uncommon, however will make them drive terrible. Have you had an alignment? post up the specs.

Everything on my vehicle didn’t make noise even after getting into two hit and runs on the passenger side. I got tires from Big O and since then, everything makes noise. Accelerating feels restricted and I’ve noticed it sits at higher RPMs than before. My vehicle was mishandled, I’ve already changed the wheel bearing, tie rod ends, bushing kit, front axle, rack and pinon along with a constant alignment multiple times every quarter of the year. I don’t think I’m being treated well even being a good consumer. I have an ‘08 GL550 X164.

I did go in to see if it was my tranny because when I accelerate I have to use the throttle and help it shift, not so dramatically but I can freely accelerate or my RPMs stay at a high idle above 3000. I’m constantly told to sell my truck, but honestly in the past 8 months, it’s only been hell because I went to Big O. I should’ve bought the rubbers and put them on my rim instead because my AMG rims are totally rashed now.

if you have issues with the abs magnets dyno mode will resolve them

I'm not sure I comprehend this correctly but sounds pretty bad. This cannot be fixed on a forum you need to go to someone who specializes in mercedes only. Sounds like you're getting hosed with people that have no idea what they're doing.
