New to me CLK BS
Hello folks.. Car is finally here. 8280 miles... The condition is overall good given the age. Some pics attached.
Car has been sitting for 5 years and probably driven 50-100 miles in that time. Some things that I found that need to be addressed
1. Old car smell inside... Typical of cars that sit a while... Looks like it needs cabin air filters replaced. Any other suggestions?
2.Oil change : Display indicating oil change due for 7xx days
3.Fobs don't lock and unlock....possible dead batteries
4. Sticky plastic on dash for fan control : Looks like a common problem. Needs part number 20983002549116
5.Cracked center console cover: Please see Pic. This is a carbon fiber cover for the cig lighter port next to gear shift. Is this part still available?
6. Trickle charger : Busted. Needs a new one.
More to come as I drop if off to doctoramg tommorow

The oil change message on these cars is contingent upon time/calendar days, not miles. Shouldn't be a problem.
3.Fobs don't lock and unlock....possible dead batteries
The batteries only last a couple of years with regular use, a few more if just sitting. $ 6.00 for a pair of new batteries and problem solved.
4. Sticky plastic on dash for fan control : Looks like a common problem. Needs part number 20983002549116
Don't buy a new part, just use a microfiber cloth and some "Goof Off" (I used Good Off, but some others have used rubbing alcohol) and a few minutes time and the part will be as good as new. This is common to all these cars; the rubber-like coating from the factory becomes sticky with time. This is an easy fix.

Another easy fix. Click this link: https://www.macarbon.com/mercedes-84...interior-parts

Get a Battery Tender, Jr. at any Walmart or O'Reillys for around $ 45.00. They work great on all of my cars, including my BS.
I hope that helps. It looks like a great car. Congratulations!

That is the factory smell (many say it smells like crayons) for all of these cars; I've had three and sat in many more, they all have it. Some say it's the leather, others say the adhesives, etc. It's part of the CLK BS DNA, not a problem. I actually like the smell.

alcohol for center vent......and the carbon fiber can be polished if he knows what he's doing and cracks not too deep. Get the official MB tender just for authenticity sake. There is also an indoor MB BS dust car cover but probably impossible to find now.
If you are going to drive it, the HRE wheels i have will preserve your stock wheels and they look amazing on a white car.
If your main battery died, it is not possible/really hard to charge with cigarette lighter. You need the tender. Search on here.

Bbell350...
I smelled that exact same smell when I bought my '05 C55 AMG. The MB tech told me that its the under layment below the carpets. I pulled up the carpet and sprayed an aerosol order remover (can't remember the brand) and, voila, its never been back. Whodathunk?
Nice CLK63 AMG BS.....

Congrats! Great car!
The smell is a W203/209 issue. Same chassis, many shared parts and same smell. It honestly doesn’t bother me. Have it professionally detailed and it will not be as bad. Put the windows down, punch the gas and enjoy that car!

Folks.. I appreciate all your feedback. Car is with the dealer now to get some of these items addressed and will be pristine when done.
Just need a c63 BS(in white) to finish out my BS collection and I can move on in life 😀

I think it is the leather.

The smell was resulted from the glue that attach the floor to the chassis, as time goes by the glue will degrade, especially when the car is exposed in high temperature condition.
I solved this by removing all the floor, has the glue all removed, and covered with the new hand made floor with tradition glue.
This is a lot of work to do and will cost you some money, but if you want to possess the car for a relatively long time, or aren't planning to sell it in the future like me, then I think this is the number one must do on my list.
