Prop shaft review
Im getting ready to replace the prop shaft on a 2013 E350
Any direction on which brand? MB is $600 FCP is $300 & ebay is well all over the place
Appreciate any feedback and longevity. I usually go with MB but 1/2 price is 1/2 price, but i don’t wanna replace it again in a year..
I bought ebay ball joints years ago and learned my lesson.
Just trying to get some reviews. FCP says lifetime warranty which is fine but I dont wanna spend 2 days of my life doing $$$$ a second time lol

Dont ever drop it, be gentle
ADD
I do yachts and often when owners damaged their propeller and shaft ( inboard engine ) , they assume the propeller shaft is simple 316L stainless.
It is not, it is much different Aquamet 22HS alloy and expensive too.
They tend to not believe what I said, so they ask local supplier to make new propeller shaft out of 316 or 316L.
Under 100 hours of use, and faster if bad weather and high passenger load, the 316SS simply get twisted.....LOL and come the vibration.
It is OK to use 316SS but the diameter must be increased, hence high speed yacht choose better alloy to have smaller diameter prop-shaft for better speed.

MB does not manufacture U-joints or bearings for them. These parts are standard for anybody to buy for fraction if cost compared to what MB ask for it. They do not even sell the center bearing assembly separate from the shaft. You have to buy the whole shaft to get one from them.
U-joint is easy to replace with simple tools. The joint probably cost well less than $100.

Rebuilding a propshaft isn't rocket science, but best done with the tools and workbench to do it. Similar to rebuilding a knuckle/wheel carrier with wheel bearing, hub and bushings or ball joints. Not impossible, but also not easy to DIY.

Which MB model we can't buy the center bearing ?
Our W212 we can buy it, I just bought it recently.
Dang, Since July to today, my currency has sunk 3.5% to the US$

dang...... that is so Highway Robbery
Anyone happen to have a part number for the U-Joint?
I think I can feel a slight bit of play in it while I wiggled around the center support and bearing. Center support is shot, hence this job. I'm hoping from the replacement of the center support, center support bearing, and both front and rear flex disks my vibration will disappear!
