GLE V167 C293 Multibeam ILS+ aka IHC+ hidden features can be reactivated by coding.

If you are driving a GLE in USA with Multibeam headlight (code 640), this coding service is for you! really useful features are now hidden in your car!

I have a 2020 GLE 350. The window sticker doesn't show code 640 but has the DA4 Exterior Lighting package which includes LED Intelligent light system, adaptive highbeam assist. Is that the same thing?

This capability has provided my old eyes a lot more confidence driving at night. It's one of the best features of the car.

I have the 2020 GLE 450 with the Advanced Lighting Package. I believe if you look at the headlight itself, it should have the "Multibeam LED" logo there.
I got mine activated by RJ Automotive. Coding itself was done quickly (but does take some times for the initial setup)
Here is a short video of the light in action

@Lucky 777 , yes I am fairly certain it can be activated on your GLE via coding. You have a few options for coding service providers, the OP EleBest, RJ Automotive, and BenzNinja (I personally had BenzNinja do my ILS and additional features). There may be others also you may come across when researching. Its an excellent feature I highly recommend especially helpful on long freeway drives, fairly low cost across all providers as well.

I have avoided a couple of suicide-bent deer since my euro-coding.
They lived to try again.

Does the headlights need to be realigned after enabling ILS+ via coding? If so, how to do it?

If you are talking about the aim of the headlight, it shouldn't need adjustment after coding given that the headlight is aimed properly to start with. The ILS+ should only change how the light behaves (software side).
Side note, there is a adjustment screw that you can use to change the aim (up/down) of the light, but make sure you know what you are doing before adjusting it.

640 is only available for USA or Canada, it is like function restrained Multibeam headlights
same to 316, function restrained Digital light.

“640” is an option code on your spec sheet. Not shown on your windows.

For other region like ECE: 640 change to 641 (for RHD) or 642 (LHD), means fully working Multibeam headlights.

How does such coding affect factory warranty? Does it void the factory warranty?

Usually wont affect anything. Unless you visit the dealer and ask: "I did this and that, can you void my car wrty?" lol

So I asked my Service Manager BEFORE I had RJ code my lights and they were fine with it.

I'll also say that they usually have a Brabus 800 or similar, parked right across from the SA desk. Often several.

I just had some updating done at my 40K service so it'll be interesting to see if my coding survived.

Some of my coding disappeared after a service visit. I know RJ guarantees his work and will reprogram them but I'm still waiting for my next service to do that 48v post connection recall so as to not waste his time should the recall work erase the programming again. ILS+ stayed though.

Headlight coding

On my BMW you can self code using BimmerCode and an OBD adapter - is there nothing like this for Mercees?

There is but it's not as easy to obtain the the MB software to program like Bimmercode. Also, from what I've read about Bimmercode, it's not as cut and dry either. Thankfully we have several reliable programmers on here for hire.

This one has received good reviews about deep coding.

2024 LAUNCH Creader Elite for Mercedes-Benz MB Sprinter Maybach Full System OBD2 Scanner, Bidirectional Diagnostic Scan Tool, All Service Code Reader,ECU Coding,

I'm interested in buying one. But I'm not confident in changing lines of code. Maybe it's easy but I don't have any experience.

I bought one of the LAUNCH devices, didn't work on my 2024 GLE, couldn't run/read any of the Mercedes diagnostic modules/software.
