GLS580 2024 23" wheels AMG package tire pressure
This is driving me nuts all of the sudden my tire pressure sensor came on orange.
I'm riding at about 40/41 all the way around.
My tire package is the 285/40 R23 in front and 325/35 R23 in back
There are two PSI charges in gas can and in the door which I posted both.
Which one is it?
Second how come there is no way to check what the current factory TPM is set at? I looked and it only shows you your "current" TPM reading.
I over inflated even to about 44 all the way around and still all orange..and the orange tire sensor light is on.
I even lowered to about 37 and the front's showed "red" and the rear were still orange.
In the end I got frusrated and just set it to about 40/41 all the way around and reset the TPM. Very lame you can't just see what it "should be at" in the computer.

The software not knowing what the car's tire pressure "should be" is not unexpected: every GLS trim (from 450 to Maybach) and every configuration may require a different load pressure (that's why the stickers for the tire pressure exists for your specific car)!

"Should be at" changes with a ton of things....on ours, with our AMG wheels on Contis...42 at all four. This does not match the door (we have it due to comfort). Your results may vary.

Agreed that the pressure can be variable based on preference. However, the SA should have made sure a "typical" setting was used so that the OP didn't need to see the warning lights on delivery!

Mine says 31 pounds on the gas cap door and that’s what I’ve been running for the last 7,000 miles since it was new. It rides and handles well.
I also had to change the target pressure so it would quit warning me. Page 393 of the owners manual explains how to do this,

I also have the 23's and I've been running 43 front / 41 rear cold on the Mich Pilot Sport 4s (as if we have a choice) per RennTech's suggestion. My best guess 85% city 15% highway and virtually always light load and in 'sport suspension' mode. I have 33k miles on vehicle and this set over 20k miles on them! I think I still have another 5k+ easy. Tires are STILL quiet and wearing very evenly. I found when inflated to gas cap suggestion, steering felt mushy and more reverberation over bumps and cracks in road. I've always been very sensitive to tire pressure and stay on top of it.
My 2013 GL63 seemed to burn through tires and I resigned to buying new once a year around 7k miles (Continental Summer Performance) as they got very noisy as tread got low. I ran 40 all around per RennTech on the 21". Finally, when an all season performance tire came available I purchased (Mich Pilot Sport 4 All season performance). They seemed to last well over 20k miles and quiet quiet. I could feel the softer sidewall but I also felt my wallet heavier too!

hey Corsop2020 - I had similar issues with my GLS. Dealership confirmed the fuel cap door is the accurate tire pressure information. It’s crazy to me how the door sill and the fuel cap do not match but the fuel cap door is correct. The other issue is once you set the cold tire pressure to your desired psi - go into the menu and reset the reference psi which will eliminate the warning light. The other benefit of setting the cold psi and resetting the reference pressure, you will know for sure if the pressure dips below what you set as the cold psi / and is a concern. Hope this helps. Thanks - Troy

For those with 23's how's the ride, and any 450's with them? I'm in the midst of ordering a '25 450 and would appreciate some real-world feedback.
I realize the 580's have ADS Plus as standard equipment, but I'm not sure what exactly the plus does? Then there's the 580's that also have ABC that's not available on the 450's which is supposed to really enhance comfort according to MB.
We 100% want the 23's, as the GLS is a large vehicle and think they along with the AMG pkg really look sharp, but we appreciate a nice ride when in comfort.
Fwiw we have a Grand Wagoneer Obsidian on 22's and it rides like a dream but have no idea how its suspension comps to the GLS's technically. We've also been unbale to find a GLS around here with 23's to test.

You probably can't find a 23" to test because we are in a "chicken or the egg" phase: folks won't buy cars w/23" wheels because there aren't many AS/winter tire options and manufacturers won't start making them because the demand is not there!

I didn't ask in the other thread but will you ever travel to a cold climate w/your car where temps can drop below 40°F? It's just about impossible to find All-Season/Winter tires for 23" wheels!

Zero OEM A/S tires (only summer, same ones that come w/the car).
The following non-OEM fit only the front wheels (285/40R23) but none available for the back (325/35R23):
PIRELLI SCORPION ZERO ALL SEASON
MICHELIN PRIMACY A/S
