I've had my current car for around 9 months, but took the fragrance bottle from my previous car, so I've had it close to 2 years now. With that old bottle I never felt like I the fragrance was consistent. Even though I always had it set to max, it would only come out sporadically, or so it seemed. It was almost enough for me, however my wife thought it was too strong. I got a new bottle and different fragrance. With this bottle it seems like far more fragrance is being pumped out, even on the lowest setting. My wife hasn't been in the car since, so I can;t ask her. But curious if there's a drastic difference in new versus old, or different fragrances. Both bottles were refilled by me using aftermarket fragrances, same company but different smell profiles.
A comparison between different ("fragrances or smells") is useless... It's just the same as different brands. The design of the bottle is fairly simple. It's the new fragrance that is different. Having said that, I never liked any of the aftermarket smells. None of them was as consistent as the original MBenz one.
I got my 2015 model S class just over 5 years ago and tried a couple of Pacific Mood bottles but really could not notice it at all, the local dealer said it was " very subtle " although I still could not smell it, however the fragrance was being used. I thought there must be a problem with the system and searched online to no avail.
However earlier this year I thought I would try another version and I saw a Maybach number 8 at a very good price on eBay, installed it and wow it was noticable straight away. Every so often I am aware of a " puff" of the smell. So the system was working fine and it was just my choice of fragrance that did not work in my case.

I'm a consistent user, and unfortunately, at least for my nose, there is a difference in intensity of the exact same fragrance jar to jar... I live with it, but I don't like the issue... my current bottle of Pacific mood is a more potent example..

Well, I tried to re-fill the original bottle twice , and it didn't go well. To me, all fresh new bottles were consistent. It was only when I tried to re-fill it with a different fragrance that I felt it was either too strong or not as strong. I decided since then to just use the original bottle instead of looking for a cheaper route. Yes, it's more expensive, but owning an S-class isn't cheap anyway so I wasn't looking to save a few bucks as much as I cared about a good and consistent smell. For some reason only an original and sealed bottle achieved that. I had the setting set to highest level, and they all lasted 3-4 months, not really bad when cost is normalized per month, still cheaper than what my own perfume costs me when normalized per month, so it was 100% worth it in my view. The Maybach smell is awesome and I couldn't even find a better option with the cheaper re-fill options.

My first aftermarket scent came out at the exact same intensity as the OEM scent that was in my car when I bought it. The smess were in the same "class" of smells but differrent. The first one I bought was leather & mohagony and the second is Amber & Lavender. I'm probaby noticing it because I went for a masculine scent to a more feminine scent. Maybe I don't girly smells unless attached to a girl...LOL

I just bought a refillable flacon and filled it with some Tommy Bahama diffuser oil, its much more noticable than the MB fragrances, so far I'm really happy with it. I do have 3 flacons of the OEM MB fragrances (Freeside, Pacific and Nightlife) and I will switch back and forth.
I had no idea the OEM flacon was available for purchase. Thanks to Steve that's the second new thing I learned today, first being the word "flacon"...LOL

Speaking pedantly, the word is a French word - flaçon - spelled with a "ç"; pronounced as an "s." Translates to "small stoppered bottle, especially one for perfumes."

Yep! I forget where I ordered it from, but just search for "refillable flacon"
