Has anyone installed a unit like this in their 2012 coupe or convertible, if so which one did you get? This is the unit I'm looking at --> https://www.4x4shop.ca/
This is my dash so you can see what model I'm trying to retrofit.
I have the android 12.3" version from this company but I have not installed it yet. Still debating if I want that or just the module. It is a very steaight forward install as I have done it on the W204.
I would recommend buying from them as they have been very helpful and the unit I have from the W204 was flawless. The W204 unit and W207 units are exactly the same except for the plastic trim. If you will get one spend one with at least the 128gig memory and get the black screen. The blue screen does not look good in our vehicles.

I did buy the module for a different company. Had it all weird up and it worked fine. Then I had to put the car back together and, well, there just wasn't enough room to store the metal box anywhere, so I begrudgingly disconnected it again...

i ran into this also , that’s why i’m going this route as well as having a large touch screen.

That was awful spelling in my prior post, apologies.
Let me know how you get on with that. I haven't pulled the trigger because I assumed it'd also need a new box inserted into the dash somewhere and I just can't work out where it would go!
I've had the Joyeauto wireless CarPlay/Android Auto in my 2015 E400 since 2018. Over the years, I've updated the firmware, though it's been a while, and never had any issues with iOS updates.

I had that version but sent it back, I could not find a good place for the box. Also, I hated not having a good-sized touch screen.

Clearly a long time ago, but do you know where you put the box? I think that's the one I have, too...
Personally, I prefer the OEM look. I can't stand the oversized appendages that the Android screens are. Regarding touchscreens, the downside is the fact that you'll have greasy fingerprints that you need to clean off. From my optic, if I want a larger touchscreen, I'd get a newer model Cab altogerther.

I love the larger screen and carplay is a must have in my book. regarding a new E-class, I can’t afford to drop that kind of money. also, having a larger screen is great, you don’t have to squint to see anything and it makes the car look newer.
