Auto mirror unfold on unlock
Does anyone know how to change the auto mirror function to unfold the mirrors when I press unlock instead of when a front door is opened? I'm writing this b/c all I found on this is a YouTube video where someone did it but no info on how they did it. I want to make this change b/c I installed the puddle logo puddle lights and it looks silly when they're on while the mirrors are folded in.

Next frontier: Folding-Mirror Pudle-Logo settings
This looks bright at night!
- A lot of these class of tweaks involve using a scanner to reprogram individual module options.
Equip yourself with a LAUNCH CREADER or better to open Driver DCU settings.
Mileage may vary between car years...
remember to snap a BACKUP before applying changes. This will be your only salvation in case you activate a buggy option while playing.

Mine automatically unfold when I unlock via the remote or when I open a door. I thought the behavior was unified.

I must apologize... I hadn't driven my W212 in months and didn't accurately describe the behavior. My E400 DOES NOT unfold the mirrors when I unlock via the FOB until I actually open the door handles. Apologies for the confusion.

In the instrument cluster there is a menu for folding mirror.
My mirror will fold and unfold with LOCK and UN-LOCK using FOB, but not unfold from door opening alone , while door lock status is UNLOCKED.
However what I do at home is, use the manual button to FOLD the mirror and my car is never locked at home, it is inside my garage u see.
Thus when I want to use the car, I need to manually UNFOLD the mirror via the manual button.

Got it from alibaba. took the mirror cover and glass off, then unscrewed the bottom of the mirror housing to gain access to the light. first time doing it took 25 ish minutes, but the second mirror only took 5 minutes.

is it through the auto-fold menu? Am I missing something, mine shows the option to turn auto-fold on and off, I don't know how to change the behaviour.

I think that some of the confusion here involves facelift years. In the US, we did not get the facelift till 2014, the rest of the world (?) got it in 2013. Also, as far as I know, no US pre-facelift W212 came from MBUSA with power folding mirrors (Canada, another story). The behavior of the mirrors in the cluster menu and settings in, say, Vediamo, may have changed pre and post facelift.
this is why it’s important to mention the year and country of your car in these posts, or at least in your profile.
i added power folding mirrors to my US 2013 car and I saw no way to accomplish what is being discussed here in the menu or in Vediamo (but of course, my German isn’t very good). In order to unfold them I have to open one of the front doors.

I just checked mine.. 14 E63 you have to open the doors. 18 GLS 5 they will pop out automatically. Thinking more the only time I remember looking at them is to confirm that the doors are locked and if they are in I know the doors are locked.

Funny how people want autofold mirrors. On all of my MB cars that I owned this feature is the first thing I disable before leaving the dealer lot. After you experience a noisy motor and a seized motor you will realize that this useless feature is only really needed when you are on VERY TIGHT SPACES which majority of the people who owns MBs will not park their cars on the said space most of the time. It can be a visual indicator of the car being locked/unlocked but the sound of the horn or a flash of the blinkers are way better indicators.

LOL, too true! Still, even when we go to the back corner of a parking lot, inevitably a bunch of cars decide to surround us Some kind of herd instinct I figure. Now back to folding mirrors…
