235/60/20 tires on 2011 GLK350 RWD?

I found dirt-cheap Bridgestone Alenza tires and I'm tempted to pull the trigger, as most other options in 245/45/20 are x3 the price, not to mention the factory 235/45/20 size which has exorbitant prices. Bridgestone in factory size are 300-500 per tire.
Anybody ever tried to put that size with 60 ratio on GLK? Any rubbing issues or other implications?

At the top of the page click on Tools-> Tire rim calculator.

Turn the steering full lock then see how much clearance you have, then try to imagine what would happen if you drove over a bump.

That's 10% larger, 3% is normally the recommended limit. You'll have huge speedometer error, reduced acceleration, reduced braking ability and probably you can only drive in a straight line without rubbing.

Tire prices have gone astronomical. What were $200 tires on our GLAs & GLBs are now $290.

Search Tire Rack/Discount Tire for optional tire size. Bridgestone Potenza 255/40R20 comes up as a lower cost alternative. It’s a summer tire, so not sure of your needs.

Of course, do your due diligence of checking fit.

that's why I'm doing deep research now. GLK OEM 235/45/20 size is ridiculously pricey now. I see other 19-20 sizes in stock in Bridgestone up to 150 bucks, but our size is always 300-400 per tire. This is bull**** and has no economical grounds. Same brand, same amount of material and same piece of engineering. I think rareness of that size adds to this pricing.

I live in summer, in CA, and this is my problem. In fact I find much more affordable winter tires, than summer ones. Many shops have Blizzak for 150 and less, but that's not applicable to me.

I'm trying to evaluate all the possible size options for GLK. I see people use 245/45/20 without any glitch, but I'm struggling to find GLK experiences with other sizes. 255/40/20 is okay, yeah?

If you go wider you need to worry about rim width.

I think rareness of that size adds to this pricing.
Yeah, if it fits a Corolla they can sell millions but if it fits a GLK they may sell hundreds.

I recently put a set of Falken all weather tires on mine. The price was reasonable and I'm happy with them. Better than the Scorpions that came off.. They have 245/45/20 for under $200. I think "summer" tires tend to be more competition oriented (and smaller market) so cost more, too.

Tire Rack has 4 Pirelli P Zero on closeout for $141 each.

I punched in your GLK and selected “alternative tire sizes” on tires.com. That’s one of the sizes that came up and “shop” brought up that Potenza for ⅔ - ½ the price of others. It says it should fit. But should fit and will fit might be two different things.

I wouldn’t buy online. I would go to a place like Discount Tire that lets you bring them back if they don’t work. They can also check in the bay for clearance before you’re stuck paying.

Even though they definitely honor the “bring it back” promise, you may not get cash back. Getting a full price exchange for another tire they carry is easy. But if it’s more, you get to pay the difference. You can get a refund if you get an assistant manager to agree to the terms as you understand them. They also price match just about any current deal if it’s documented. The shops I deal with are fairly easy to work with.

They also own Tire Rack, so they match anything there without question.

big network tire shops and especially Discount Tire are notoriously known for refusals to install non-factory tires.

Sorry, I got your stock size confused with all the numbers flying about. Here's a better deal:

this is 245/35R20, and our OEM size is 235/45R20. Will it fit just okay?

Absolutely INCORRECT. Maybe where you live, they do.

But ... you're looking for a 235/60/20, per your Title and comment corrections.

Well, everyone’s experiences are different. We have never had that problem over the last 20+ years. MB models W163, W211, W209, W/X204, H/X247, and AMG GTs. The one issue concerned down rating tires on one of our modified one ton trucks and they had a form we simply signed for that. Maybe California safety laws make that harder.

I see tons of the messages like this, from people of all states, not only from CA

I just dont want to waste time and my petience arguing with the DT managers. I'd better to go to an independent shop.

My current Dueler 235/45/20 tires were installed in AmericaTires (that's how Discount Tire is called in my area), and I'm quite happy with their service, dont get me wrong. But they are quite strict with policies and liability stuff, so for installing non-standard tires DT is definitely not the best place to go.

Facebook ???? Yea, okay. (the worse example).
Reddit or whatever ... social media is meaningless.
( won't read any of those)

Have NEVER had a problem with choosing whatever brand of tire I want to purchase, for ANY vehicle I've owned for 40+ years.
Discount Tire has been around for for many many years in the US,

Dang! I got it wrong again!

Use the tire tool to see how different they are. Also, confirm your wheel is wide enough for the wider tire.

Your owner's manual should show the width of the rims. The tire specs should show a range of acceptable widths.

Meanwhile, here's the same tire in (hopefully) the right size...
https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...omCompare1=yes
This tire can be mounted on a 8" to 9-1/2" rim.
