2026 E53 400 miles- REAR SPRINGS BROKEN

Recently purchased a 2026 E53, and with just 400 miles it is at dealer with "broken rear springs". We noticed the car sitting too low in the rear, like an airbag out on an air ride suspension.

Has anyone ever heard of this on an E53?

The dealer is now saying parts are not available to fix and "backordered", I am assuming this could turn into a lengthy wait.

Any input appreciated.

I guess.....****e happens.....insist they provide a loaner, free of charge, of equal value/comfort until your car is fixed to your satisfaction.

Gotta say that's a new one. Never heard of anything like this on any car quite frankly. Brand new springs breaking is very unusual. Over time due to corrosion-induced weakening a coil spring can snap, but brand new that's gotta be a production issue. That's also likely why they are not in stock. Springs are not a common item that needs replacing. Dampers yes, as they can leak, but not springs.

Vehicle abuse? Fatties riding in the trunk? Hope it is fixed soon.

MB’s of all kinds.
That is a new one for me. Never heard of that. Have them provide a loaner car at $0 charge to you. I’m just confused how on earth a rear spring breaks with only 400 miles unless somebody hit an enormous pothole at a high speed and did some tremendous damage.

New member, longtime viewer...found this thread interesting as I was just advised by my salesperson the 2026 E53 wagon I had on order was being held at the west coast VPC.

The reason stated was for a 'mod impacting several units...waiting on parts.' The modification is 'replace rear springs.'

Part manufacturing defect? Engineering update?

We'll see.

yikes. Two thoughts:
If they broke after you bought and it takes too long for part to come, you may have lemon law recourse?
if fixed at port, that means your car will have been disassembled and reassembled at the port - less than ideal, but still covered by warranty.

Document everything. Sounds like a lemon case in the making. Squeaky wheel gets the grease. I’d ask for a replacement (but not expecting one but you never know) and file a case with corporate.

yikes, mine’s been in port since March 30th though I hadn’t pressed on why yet, guess we make sure to check the alignment before we take possession
