NEW owner of a SL320, looking for info!
i am proud to say i am now an owner of a 1997 sl320, i went and test drove it yesterday (2/8/06) and the minute i saw it, drove it, etc. it was all over with, i new i had to have it. drives and handles great.
now i am looking into some basic performance upgrades, any knowledgable websites, would help me a ton. has good customer sevice, along with good pricing?
are there any DIY perfomance secrets that can be done to these cars, such as fuel pump volatage increase, etc? i have had my share of other high performance cars and most of them have secrets about them, just wondering if the SL's do?
any help i would really appreciate it, thanks... chad

Hmm . . . you should have gone for the 500 or 600 and then you wouldn't be so concerned about upgrading performance.
Okay, but if you want more than a smart-*** answer, do a search on the posts that dafi129 did, because he did a LOT of mods to his 320, and he describes most of them in his various posts.
BTW, welcome to the wonderful world of R129 ownership. I fell in love with mine right off, too. As did most of the people on this board.
Please show off and post some pictures of your new baby.

Another Proud New Owner
Hello All...
I am also a proud new owner of a 95 SL500. I walked into the showroom by accident this past weekend (I was looking for another vehicle/dealer entirely) and ps, within one test drive I was writing a check. I too would be interested in websites, particulary for certain hard to find items (i.e. hardtop winch, cassette holder replacement, wind deflector).
Glad to be part of the community!
Cheers...

The R129's are wicked nice cars, post pictures of them when you have a chance!
Go ahead and shoot an email to info@euroteckmotorsports.com with your questions. They are an official RENNtech distributor and Neal (works at Euroteck) should be able to find something for the R129.

today i order a set of 20" wheels + tires, front and rear powerstop cross drilled/slotted rotors, clear front corner turn signals, chrome grill, new pad for the hood to keep heat away (stock one is pealing off). now i am looking into a good exhaust, and air intake.
i dont want a drop in filter from k & n, does anyone make a whole aftermarket piping kit with cone filter, etc?

personally i think the oxidized metal look of the r129 front grill is the best looking front grill made
id definatly check with Neal at EuroTeck like ricky said, he is amazing and can fit you some beautiful rims at a good price
i have dropped in K&n's and they do help to make the car smoother at the least

Maybe RennTech or Brabus, but they are very pricey. I'd be more than glad if some small private company came out with a ram air upgrade for my car. Keep looking, but for now, I'd get the K&N's...they work fine.

Your ride will be like a tobbogan....18" are the highest size for an SL if you want to keep some sort of comfort..and they still look cool....

It is quite amazing. With clear corners and 20" chromed rims ... it looks like a completely different car.
Looks great!
You mentioned a chromed grill? Not installed yet? The grill looks darker than usuall on both the before and after pictures.
