2001 SL600
Just bought this 01 SL600 with 63K miles. It should be in my driveway in a few weeks.

It will be used as a semi-daily driver and hope to enjoy it for a very long time. I plan to leave it pretty much as is, but I'd like to swap out all the burlwood for either birdseye or carbon and maybe add some Silver Arrow bits here and there.

Here's my SL500 in Smoke Silver with 62,000 miles. It looks good in the neighborhood.

Smoking!

1995 SL500 Mercedes Benz
New to the forum

Hey what’s up , I just recently bought a 1995 SL500 with about 114k miles on her. She needs some TLC but willing to make it happen. She rides fine but just started to slowly overheat on me the other day. When sitting idle the temperature starts to rise over 80, after a bit of acceleration is goes back down. I don’t want to drive her until i can fix the problem before it gets any worse . Aiming to make sure the major mechanical work is in good enough shape to keep her going. If there’s any recommendations, tips or answers that can help me out with this one I really appreciate it. Happy Holidays.

that is normal it will usually get right under the 100 mark if left to idle for over a few mins. As 100c is only 212f that is totally normal. Nothing to worry about.

That’s such a shame in my opinion and such a baaad look. You made a $100K car look like a bad example of a late 90’s Honda Civic. Just my .02

Well is was a $7500 car. You’re opinion seems to be lame also. Cause everyone loves them, and the people who hate on them, usually have ****ty cars anyway. Also I am not sure if I had seen a set of Advans TC4s on a civic before. Well also when it’s tinted, has the trunk spoiler, slk55 front brakes and a supercharger. You will still think it’s lame. Congrats

Wouldn’t it have been cheaper/easier to just modify a regular silver sl500?

Again, and no offense, you completely ruined a perfectly perfect silver arrow. You should have bought a Corolla, a civic or a Sentra and done this to it, although even those cars don’t deserve this tasteless treatment. Again, just my .02.
P.S. I have pretty decent cars; definitely not ****ty, at least I don’t think so.

Can you tell me how it would be cheaper? I paid 7500 for a 131,000 mile silver arrow. I work on Mercedes’ for a living. I love all the losers who get so butt hurt over modifying a Mercedes. Oh no it’s a silver arrow, so “rare” who cares.

There is a reason you work on Mercedes…doesn’t automatically mean you should be drivi, oops, meant to write you should be ruining one. And your last reply to the gentleman above just confirms everything I already knew about your taste and general point of view when it comes to cars. Good luck my dude.

Still confused on how I ruined it? Because I have some very nice JDM wheels. So Volks on a Ferrari or 911 ruins it?

Can you please explain what you know about my general point of view and taste on cars? So I can find out what you know, that I don’t know. Thanks.

or maybe I should just be boring and do what everyone else does.

Ill just say, there's an obvious reason why most Mercedes you see ride their factory wheels or period correct amgs.......

Modifications are cool. Got a bit on my 600. The key though is tastefulness.

I’m not sure you understand, modifications are good and cool. No one is against it. It’s all about tastefulness. My car probably has more mods than yours.

Really no one cares about engine modifications because it’s not something that’s seen and more horsepower is a good thing.

I’m fairly certain if our rides side by side were being listed for sale, it wouldn’t be deemed boring not even in the slightest… js
